CALHOUN HOUR - ESCAPE

When characters begin to wake up, instead of finding themselves in the usual warehouse, they will instead find themselves in an a very unfamiliar area. Maybe they'll wake up alone, or maybe they'll wake up with someone else. Either way, the biggest point is that they're in God-knows-where and it's the start of a new Calhoun Hour.

Within seconds later, a familiar voice booms throughout the loud speakers.

"Ahem, testing, testing! Hello, can you all hear me?"

It's, without a doubt, your favourite robotic mouse, Calhoun. As usual, he sounds a cheery as ever.

"Wow, isn't this familiar? It's almost like the first time we've met, you know. Test subject in a new location, maybe alone or maybe with someone else, my charming voice rings throughout the room, trying to drown you all in an elevator. Good times!"

"Well, anyway, welcome to your new Calhoun Hour! You can see that I've taken the liberty to move you all to a more suitable location. You may not know it, with how small your brains are, but you're all stuck in a maze! I've had my fair share of running around in mazes, you know, being a mouse and all, so I want to return to favour to you humans! So, you know the drill: explore, look around, try to escape, blah blah blah, I don't need to explain all this! Just get to it! Who knows, maybe the exit here is an exit out to the real world. I might be generous like that, if you manage to find it. If not, well, I guess you can all starve here!"

He snickers, then pauses. Suddenly, a loud gunshot-like sound rings throughout the speakers, and Calhoun screams again.

"Let's get started!"

[Ema wakes disoriented and really, really annoyed, so basically like every other day except in a slightly different metal room. After some internal discussion, she does come to the conclusion that even some godforsaken maze must be better than just sitting around, if only just barely.

Finding nothing of note in the room she's in, she moves to the large room, then checks the door next to hers--the one filled with Calhoun memorabilia.]

Tetradecimal or something. I may be out at times due to storms in the area, but if I am, I'll get back to you as soon as I can!

When Heiji had gone to sleep a scant few hours ago, he hadn't expected to wake up alone. Nevertheless, that was exactly how he found himself. He looked up at the speakers out of habit when Calhoun began to talk, but quickly began to scan the room for clues.

There was a prerecorded riddle in the hallway to the south. That was a good place to start, right? "It'd still be five mice," he said, yawning. "And anyway, ain't it supposed to be the other way around? Whoever heard of a rat catchin' a cat?"

He had to find Snake as quickly as he could. This stupid maze was probably full of traps.

[ Top level comment for Wirt! He's going to be wandering around without much purpose or direction, so anyone is welcome to run into him anywhere! He's going to be starting in O-13, and will seem more distracted than usual. ]

"And did you see the room with all the fan merchandise?" asked Heiji, shuddering theatrically at the very thought. "It had a shrine and everything! Seriously, all it was missin' was family pictures with all the faces cut out."

The door in front of them appeared to open into a long hallway. Heiji poked his head through the doorway, frowning in suspicion.

[Top level for Clive who is starting in AC-28! Feel free to run into him wherever you want, he'll be going pretty much everywhere. Also I'm in my last week of school rn which means I have tests to study for and papers to write so I'm probably going to be on the slower side for this event, sorry. 8(]

((Catch-all here! If you want a different area, feel free to tag in here with the location. Regardless of where they find him, chances are unless it's Snake they'll see him before they hear him; he's walking around as silently as ever. In Snake's case, he'll call out quietly to alert the guy that he's Around.

He's starting in U-21.))

Heiji peered through the doorway, listening to the sounds of robot feet retreating down the hall. There was a doorway halfway down the hall on the left-hand side, so if he could just duck through, he'd be able to make it in.

...Provided there was no riddle, of course. Make a decision, Hattori.

*It was with a lot of consternation that Snake woke up to find himself alone and in some kind of maze. Calhoun's helpful explanation cleared up his confusion. He had to try to find anyone else he could. His first adventure was going north, but after going down a hallway and into a room, he found a door and heard a sound. A familiar metallic tread. Lacking any kind of flare this time to defend himself, Snake fled back the way he came, into the south and another hallway.

*Of course, something even bigger was patrolling along. It took him several minutes of listening to the heavy...thing moving before he could discern a pattern.*

[Well. This isn't exactly what he expected upon waking up.

He spends the first few minutes after Calhoun's announcement quietly checking the different options he has without quite crossing over into any of the hallways. He has no doubt that there's traps all over to contend with, and he's wary.

Maybe someone will come along and help him decide where to go?]

Heiji emerged into the large from from the L-35 entrance. He was not yet looking too worse for the wear.

"Hey, Sasuke. Ya seen anyone else yet? Seems like that Calhoun dropped us in different rooms. Pain in the neck, right?"

*Snake sat down in a corner of the room to catch his breath. He'd tried just a little bit of food and after eating it, he could have sworn he was being chased by a semi, blaring a loud horn for him to get off the road. He'd run around like a crazy person in an empty room before the sound went away. Would he run into anyone else here?*

*One would have thought that his tuned senses would have helped him a darkened room with tripwires. Not quite. After taking a tumble, he stepped very VERY carefully and slowly. Snake rubbed at the welt he felt on his cheek from when he fell and scraped against a wire.*

*After wandering damn near everywhere and meeting a few people, Snake stumbled into the room with the safer food. There was a pink welt across his left cheek, as though he'd been struck or fell at some point.*

He's made it through so far without too much excitement. For now.

"Yeah. Think there's actually an exit?"

He highly doubts it. It'd be too easy, even if there's traps littering the place...

"Snake!" The relief in Heiji's voice was clear and undisguised. "I knew you'd make it!"

He was crossing the room at once to give Snake a hug. "You hungry? There's some food in here, so I was thinkin' of leaving a note for the others to meet up back here when they're done exploring."

He shook his head. "Nah. But I'm gonna go through all the rooms anyway, just in case. We should try and meet up with each other at some point, too, or we'll just be stumblin' around forever. Anyway, I haven't checked the doorway on the right yet. You wanna come with?"

What lay beyond that doorway...? Surely only wonderful things.

[probably afternoon or so? Ema will be wandering through the room with one button from the south, maybe a little damp but you know, these things happen. Either way, she doesn't expect the door to be opening from the north at the exact same time...]
