CALHOUN HOUR - ESCAPE

When characters begin to wake up, instead of finding themselves in the usual warehouse, they will instead find themselves in an a very unfamiliar area. Maybe they'll wake up alone, or maybe they'll wake up with someone else. Either way, the biggest point is that they're in God-knows-where and it's the start of a new Calhoun Hour. Within seconds later, a familiar voice booms throughout the loud speakers. "Ahem, testing, testing! Hello, can you all hear me?" It's, without a doubt, your favourite robotic mouse, Calhoun. As usual, he sounds a cheery as ever. "Wow, isn't this familiar? It's almost like the first time we've met, you know. Test subject in a new location, maybe alone or maybe with someone else, my charming voice rings throughout the room, trying to drown you all in an elevator. Good times!" "Well, anyway, welcome to your new Calhoun Hour! You can see that I've taken the liberty to move you all to a more suitable location. You may not know it, with how small your brains are, but you're all stuck in a maze! I've had my fair share of running around in mazes, you know, being a mouse and all, so I want to return to favour to you humans! So, you know the drill: explore, look around, try to escape, blah blah blah, I don't need to explain all this! Just get to it! Who knows, maybe the exit here is an exit out to the real world. I might be generous like that, if you manage to find it. If not, well, I guess you can all starve here!" He snickers, then pauses. Suddenly, a loud gunshot-like sound rings throughout the speakers, and Calhoun screams again. "Let's get started!" BASIC INFO ✖ ESCAPE ✖ POST-EVENT MINGLE ✖ TURN-IN

Somehow through the magic of poorly defined DWRP timelines, Heiji heard both of them talking. Now dried and warm once again, he approached the sounds of conversation about... ham sandwiches?

"Snake? Hershel? What happened to you guys?"

Except then he did, and was all cagey about why. I think he's hiding something.

[the tone is more frustrated than irritated, but hopefully Calhoun didn't notice since something close to worrying is probably not the type of show that'll get them out, more the type that'll just leave them in water up to their knees for some irritating amount of time until they die of trench foot]

...He really did enjoy that shrine. It was possibly the happiest he's ever been, he said. [more importantly, as the water seems not to be rising anymore, she looks around for some way to get out? a door? a trap door? a key to drop into a drain?]

"Y-yeah, but..." Heiji opened the bag and pulled out... five coins.

...CALHOUN. "It's just a couple of coins. Some joke. Come on, I know where it should be."

His fingers, predictably, were freezing; he leaned into Snake a little as he went.

"Well, Jake made that campfire before, right? In the garden. I bet he could make another one." Eyeing those fish, man. How long had it been since he'd had a sweetfish or a mackerel?

"Anyway, he's got about a hundred weirdo hobbies. Figure he's gotta have at least one normal one. Heiji tossed a few more crumbs in and watching as the fish inhaled them greedily.

[Ema looked up from where she was huddled against the wall and scowled, snorting out a breath. Really she just wanted to be left alone after all the bullshit of the day and of all the people she didn't want to see, Snake ranked pretty near the top. Instead of bitching or throwing anything she decided to get up and walk towards the south end of the room. It was a little childish and only cathartic in a mean way, but possibly better than starting an argument (in the long term). Ugh, being an adult was hard and nobody understood]

Yup. Sounds like we can do multiple tiles at the same time for chords and harmonies and stuff if necessary. Mmm...do you know Chopsticks? or Heart and Soul? Mary Had a Little Lamb? Billie Jean?

DWRP, a forest of mysteries. Hershel glanced over as Heiji approached, offering a smile in greeting.

"Ah, you know, trapped in a room with water slowly rising. Becoming something of a staple in this facility, it seems." He decided to not dwell on the fact this shit was common enough to make jokes about, no good came from that. "What's this about ham sandwiches? I haven't seen anything like that yet."

Well, one of the rooms I stumbled into and found Wirt at was a room filled with wonderful food. I grabbed a ham sandwich. Unfortunately, after I ate it, I started hallucinating sounds. I'm not sure if it was all the food that does that or what I happened to eat.

*Given that Heiji probably wanted to get as warm as possible, he trusted Heiji's sense of direction. Rooms and hallways in the maze were starting to become familiar. Some of them anyway.

*The most tragic thing of all was Snake wasn't in a mood to appreciate or realize that Heiji didn't have a shirt on.*

That might be a good idea. There's probably a ton of traps in here.

It might be better if we stuck together. It's easier to notice if anything's off with two pairs of eyes.

[There's one covered up by a cloth, which attracts some attention. Might as well see who it--

...Oh. There's... Akiko, apparently. Um. Maybe if he replaces the fabric quickly Hershel won't notice...?]

"Another one of them water traps?" Heiji asked Hershel. "I fell into one earlier, it was in this room with a glass floor..."

Hmm, but the question was who to fuss over first. "You ate drugged food?" Problem solved; Heiji went over to Snake and put a hand up to his forehead to check his temperature. "You feelin' okay now?"

Though not even Heiji was aware of it, there was a quality of warmth that crept into his voice when he talked to Snake that wasn't present when he talked to the others in the warehouse. "Jeez, I gotta watch you like a hawk..."

Truly tragic, but maybe that would change?

When they got to the door just outside the sauna, there were words on the door. "You gotta be kidding me... another riddle?

'Give me food, and I will live.
Give me water, and I will die.
What am I?'

Th-that's easy. It's fire."

In response to Heiji's answer, the door opened and Heiji quickly got inside. The sauna air was thankfully nice and hot; he sat down on a bench inside, still shivering.

"What? Are you alright?" At least Heiji didn't look as drowned rat as these two nerds, so that was probably a good sign. Wouldn't stop Hershel from being concerned though.

He watched as Heiji went over to Snake, smiling to himself like the shitlord he is after a moment. He was right. it was him. He so called it. Victory was sweet. Everyone bow to him, etc.

"... If we could find Jake and something safe to burn, somewhere where the smoke wouldn't collect-" They could live the dream. They could do it. He sighed after a moment. "Though finding Jake in this is probably much easier dreamt about than done."

Ah well. He turned his thoughts back to the koi, head tilting. "Does Osaka have a lot of ponds like this?" He asked after a moment, throwing the last of his horrible stale bread in to watch them go nuts. "I'd like to see that one day."

*The air was a tad too hot for Snake, but was probably just what Heiji needed.* Do you want me to take some things or leave your clothes in here so they get dry?

[He places poor Mr. Kaguragi away after regarding it for a moment, apparently deep in thought over the people who had vanished for some time now. Looking at not vanished people was more fun, and he has to sigh when he finds his doll.]

Honestly, my hair's not that ridiculous. [He muttered as he picked it up to look it and it's ridiculous mop of hair over, glancing at Sasuke once he had properly shown it his silent displeasure.] What do you have over there? Scraps? [Uh oh.]

Ema! Oh thank goodness you're all right! *Except it sounds like she just keeps on going elsewhere. Well then.*

[Welp. He doesn't move from where he is, making it a bit difficult to see much of it, but he won't exactly stop Hershel from coming over to investigate either.]

Heiji, I am perfectly fine. It doesn't sound like there's a semi chasing me any more. But you...you're sure you're all right after that dunking and going into the sauna? You don't feel cold? *Because getting a cold and worse would be hell in the warehouse with no medicine to fight it.*

Heiji had already draped his shirt out to dry and was in the middle of shedding his jeans when Snake spoke. "I'll just leave 'em to dry. Can you, um... come here and sit down next to me?"

[she pauses in front of the doorway, shifting as if she can't figure out how best to respond. mainly because she can't]

...Thank goodness. Right. Everything was peachy.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Gave me kind of a start; the floor broke under me and dropped me into some icewater."

He turned to face Snake again, shh Snake, keep the sauna part on the DL okay. "I think I'll be okay. I been sleeping out in the open, and that's supposed to give ya a cold, too."

Heiji eyed both of them suspiciously. "So neither of you got hurt, right?"
