CALHOUN HOUR - ESCAPE

When characters begin to wake up, instead of finding themselves in the usual warehouse, they will instead find themselves in an a very unfamiliar area. Maybe they'll wake up alone, or maybe they'll wake up with someone else. Either way, the biggest point is that they're in God-knows-where and it's the start of a new Calhoun Hour. Within seconds later, a familiar voice booms throughout the loud speakers. "Ahem, testing, testing! Hello, can you all hear me?" It's, without a doubt, your favourite robotic mouse, Calhoun. As usual, he sounds a cheery as ever. "Wow, isn't this familiar? It's almost like the first time we've met, you know. Test subject in a new location, maybe alone or maybe with someone else, my charming voice rings throughout the room, trying to drown you all in an elevator. Good times!" "Well, anyway, welcome to your new Calhoun Hour! You can see that I've taken the liberty to move you all to a more suitable location. You may not know it, with how small your brains are, but you're all stuck in a maze! I've had my fair share of running around in mazes, you know, being a mouse and all, so I want to return to favour to you humans! So, you know the drill: explore, look around, try to escape, blah blah blah, I don't need to explain all this! Just get to it! Who knows, maybe the exit here is an exit out to the real world. I might be generous like that, if you manage to find it. If not, well, I guess you can all starve here!" He snickers, then pauses. Suddenly, a loud gunshot-like sound rings throughout the speakers, and Calhoun screams again. "Let's get started!" BASIC INFO ✖ ESCAPE ✖ POST-EVENT MINGLE ✖ TURN-IN

[ And really, Wirt could probably use the company, before he ended up staying right where he was, doing nothing. ]

S-so, where should we go now?

S-sorry! It's not like I can see where you are.

[ He sounds more scared and anxious than he does irritated, which doesn't really do much for his image. But he shuffles back a little ways--and then trips on something else and falls flat on his back. Ugh... ]

You'd probably have to swim there, unless you want to attempt running on the glass floor again, and if you're scared of underwater monsters.

[ Nah, nothing under here besides a few bags of mysteries inside (just coins), but he'd rather not freeze to death trying to get them. ]

Heiji shivered a little when Snake touched him, though not from the cold this time. His breath caught briefly in his throat. If Heiji's reaction was any indication, he liked this quite a lot.

Apparently, he didn't have a smart comeback for Snake this time, either.

Oh thank god, they made it. Wirt took a moment to catch his breath and then took a look around. Wow, there was a lot of food. Really, really good looking food. Wirt wanted to go over and stuff his face, he was suddenly starving, well aware of the fact that he hadn't eaten since he arrived, but...

"Do--you think it's safe?"

[ Wirt didn't move fast enough to cover his mouth, and so he got a good lungful of the gas. He coughs and sputters for a minute, before becoming transfixed by the floor. Was it changing colors? Or--oh god it just became bees. Hershel's voice snaps him back to focus, and he turns to his afro-totting buddy. ]

Y-Yeah, I'm fine.

[ He squints at Hershel. Or, more specifically, his afro. It was wiggling around, and Wirt is pretty sure it's not supposed to do that. Is it trying to eat Hershel's face or something? ]

This room is, uh, pretty weird though. Everything's--wow, yeah.

[ Jake pushes himself back up and just... listens to Wirt falling over. Good job there, but man, damn you, slight character development and giving a shit... He'll let out an annoyed sigh then turn around and carefully try to find Wirt on the ground by moving his hand around. He's going to try and help you up. ]

Fine, then stand besides me, so we don't run into this again.

[ Jake's hand pats Wirt's face, first, but once Wirt figures out that it's a hand and not something weird or creepy, he takes it and accepts the help. Maybe Jake's not as mean as he seems?? Or maybe he is and this is just a rare occurrence, whatever. ]

Thanks...Uh. Right, okay. That's probably--a pretty good idea.

[ It's better than wandering around hoping not to run into each other, anyway. ]

Was more worried about being caught on stuff and drowning...

[anyway, they aren't getting any younger so she figures they should probably get moving. it might not be the most productive of ideas especially with completely numb feet, but she attempts to detach her coat from where it's caught in the hole and heft herself back onto the glass--best case scenario she can get over while making useful holes for breathing and getting out; with their luck it'd be magical one-way glass that only breaks from the bottom. cue ungraceful flopping but there is a strong possibility of this working!!! at least for a little bit because freezing to death is really a minus, especially if you don't even get coins for it]

[ Wirt's doing alright. The tiles seem to be laid out like a scale would be, so he can figure out where he should probably go easily enough. And he seems to have a good ear for music, which helps. ]

We're a little flat. Try one row of tiles higher.

[ Hope you don't get bitten at the end or something. Jake needs those gloves (but really, come up with whatever trap you want at the end, i have no preferences) ]

You're that happy to go digging in random holes?

I don't think it really matters which door we start off with, so... why not this one?

[He strides across the room to the door, opening it up quickly, but no less cautiously.

....Well, it looks pretty normal inside, at least?]

"Well, I mean... he's drugged the food before." Meaning Calhoun, of course.

"...But it does look really good." Heiji looked super undecided. On one hand, he hadn't had decent food in forever. On the other, the last time he'd eaten on Calhoun's dime, he'd ended up feeling violently ill for like a day.

But had it been worth it?

...Yes. Yes, it had. "Tell you what. I'm starving. I'll eat some of it, and if nothing happens to me, you'll know it's safe. Probably."

[ Wirt peeks his head it, looks at Sasuke, and shrugs. ]

Looks pretty harmless.

[ Carefully, he takes a few steps inside. So far so good. ]

[she tries it and that seems to help; every so often there are tiles for notes that really shouldn't exist (on an organ, at least; most other instruments are analog enough to make it work) but really, what do you expect from Calhoun anyway. tl;dr, after a quite minor amount of warm-up they can make some pretty respectable music. score~]

He gave a small chuckle at that, the thought of putting fake eyelashes on this head, before making bad life decisions.

He picked up his bag of coins, keeping them with him, and then the cellphone. "Here, catch," he warned before tossing it towards Heiji to grab. This surely wasn't going to awaken the other robots, no sirree.

[He lets the subject drop, realizing much the same as Jake. But at least he's considered the idea now.

He'll obligingly move to ceck out the puzzle, a hand on his chin thoughtfully.]

It's sudoku.

[Super helpful kid, this one. Especially when he actually starts helping to fill it out, occasionally pausing to mentally test out various combinations. These kinds of puzzles, he can handle.]

[Sasuke steps in as well, moving a bit ahead of Wirt as he goes on alert. It's a normal looking room, but consdering where they are, that's almost suspicious in and of itsel--

[ Awkward... Patting some kid's face, but he'll pull Wirt up and back on his feet. He lets go quickly after though, since he's not much for physical contact. He turns and pats the back of Wirt's shoulder to tell him where he's located. ]

Beats this nonsense, so one step at a time and feel around before you walk. Last thing we need is to fall over again.

I think someone already tried to hide it.

[He makes a small gesture to the cloth that previously hid it.]

...I could take it with me and get rid of it afterwards. [He's not too optimistic about there being an actual exit here. It's far more likely Calhoun will simply let them run around for a while until it's time to take them back to the main area.]

Heiji flipped the phone open, but sadly it would not turn on. It was basically a brick, whoo yeah awesome.

There was a muffled sound from inside one of the coffins. Suddenly, a robotic hand burst through the lid of the coffin containing it and began to flex its fingers. Splinters flew everywhere.

[ Jake will help her up, if needed, and then watch. He's not a fan of staying in the water, but he knows that heeee's probably too heavy for the glass,. He's certainly not going to risk going up on it, only to have it break and ruin Ema's chance of getting across it safely. He's making this sacrifice for you, Ema, you better be thankful. ]

[ He'll stick around for a bit, if it looks like she's having difficulty, but if not, he'll swim on ahead to the stairs so he can get out of this godforsaken water. ]

[ They'll talk about it later, somehow, maybe write on sheets of papers or whatnot. Still going to be hard with the cameras, but they'll figure it out. In the meanwhile, SUDOKU. Jake doesn't really do a lot of it, so he's more than content letting Sasuke come over and help. With the both of them working on it, it becomes solved pretty quickly. ]
