CALHOUN HOUR - CHOICE

It has been two and a half days since the end of the virus takeover. The power, lights, and heating has been turned back on. All the newer areas have been sealed, BP is once again required in certain rooms, and it appears that everything is returning back to normal.

Asides from Calhoun.

Whether characters have chosen to give pieces of Calhoun to Zero, to hold onto them, or to destroy them, it does not matter. There has been no indications as to when he would ever be back, so there has been a robotic mouse void within the warehouse. Zero has refused to leave any information as to the status of rebuilding Calhoun, but they have left this one message for everyone shortly after the power restoration:

"While you may be left alone to your devices, do not trick yourselves into thinking that there is a way out of here, or that you can do as you please. I will always be watching."

It has been two days since Zero has left these parting words before entirely disappearing. When attempting to call for them, everyone will only be responded with silence. It's clear that they're still watching over the facility though, as any kind of rule breaking or suspicious activities would automatically be rewarded with an injection of Soporil β. True to their word, Zero is somehow monitoring the behaviors without saying a single word.

It is not until the morning of Day 72 does everyone hear again from them again, through the speakers throughout the warehouse.

"Good morning, Subjects. Today, you will be partaking in another experiment of mine. It has come to my knowledge that my assistant has been throwing these so-called "Calhoun Hours" every three days to keep everyone stimulated between his rooms. Don't assume that I will do anything similar of the sort. This activity has far more care and thought put into it than this camping nonsense, so let us begin."

"The rules are simple: every test subject will be paired up and placed against each other. The collective will then have to vote for one of the pair. The one with the fewest amount of votes will be subjective to a punishment of my choice. The one with the most amount of votes will continue their dull experimental lives until the next set of events."

"Any petty attempts of rebellion will be met with serious repercussions, so I would suggest that you rethink any sort of plans."

"Now, best of luck, Subjects. We will talk again soon."

[Maybe you shouldn't go around being all self sacrificing, ever thought of that, hm. He nods and taking up the pen again.]

I could do without you being hurt for it but I'm glad, Heiji could use a break here and there, even if he won't admit it.

[And have a soft sigh and a smile.] Don't think of it, I'm sorry to have bothered you when you didn't need it. Is there anything you need?

[You are the absolute last person who is allowed to lecture anyone about being self sacrificing, Mr. Buys a Medical Kit All By Himself.]

Indeed, plus Heiji has been taking such good care of me ever since I injured my knee, I had to repay him somehow. Ema told me that she lessened your punishment. I'm really glad about that. I was counting on her or Sasuke to help you. What exactly is your punishment anyway? [He can't tell what it is at all - Hershel looks perfectly fine to him, and his BP doesn't seem to be off, either. But wait, Clive has even more to write before he lets Hershel answer that.]

Also there is a small favour I would like to ask of you. Could you give my regards to Snake when you see him? Communication between the two of us is no longer possible, and I don't want him to think I'm intentionally ignoring him.

[He wasn't Mr. Squeaky Chair Cripple at that point so clearly he wins, probably.]

[Hershel took that all in, eyes widening a bit at the part with Ema. He wasn't terribly surprised but that did mean she had taken a blow for him, so watch out, Ema. Cluck cluck cluck.] Heiji has been quite worried about you, will you tell him you lessened his? And I assumed it was Ema when Zero said someone had for me. I wonder if that means Sasuke did something for Snake.

[He pauses a moment, stifling a sigh before continuing.] I haven't the slightest clue what my punishment is, nothing has happened yet. I suspect it'll happen soon, I sincerely doubt Zero would be merciful enough to decide anyone can be spared this nonsense. He's probably having a laugh about it as we speak. [And he made a face.] Write, you know what I mean.

Of course I will, if you'd like to speak with him I'd be more than happy to read notes between you. It'll do you both good to touch base, I'm sure.

[As if that would have stopped you even if you were. Face it, you're just as bad as Clive is.

And oh, did Hershel not know about that already? He hopes he wasn't supposed to keep that a secret.]
I will. And I really hope he did. I'm worried about how Snake's punishment turned out; and how Heiji is handling it, honestly. [That guy can get fiercely protective over Snake. Which makes sense since they're dating, but still.]

That's strange. You're right, though, Zero is bound to have something in store for you so please be careful.

I might take you up on that offer later, actually. Thank you very much.

[Alright I really can't argue that, you win this round...

He already figured as much so no worries there.]
I already offered to read notes between them, I think that will help but I can't imagine either of them will be happy to have communication effectively cut off from someone they rely on so much. [Wasn't going to be a party. He offers Clvie a smile before writing:]

No need to worry, I'm the picture of caution, I promise. Now tell me how your leg's been holding up, has it been getting any better? [Excuse him while he frets that somehow it'd cause permanent damage, cluck cluck.]
