He crossed his arms. "Yeah, only because the way the rules work, it's a little harder than that. People tend to fear losses more than they value gains. So when you put them in a situation where they don't trust the other side, it makes them even more likely to make irrational decisions.

"Well, you could say that the 'experimenters' in this case are playing dirty, too. They've been trying various things to try and make people betray each other. But that just kinda makes me want to do the opposite, ya know?"
