A M B I D E X  V O T I N G Everyone (besides one newbie) should know how things work by now: you leave your respective puzzle rooms, head downstairs to the first floor, swipe your Ambidex Room cards, and enter your elevator. Now, this is where it gets different, because here's your prizes for this round! For anyone who chooses Betray, and gets betrayed in return, well you get a nice can of food! What kind inside? That's a surprise! Oh, and 15 coins for each person. As for anyone who chooses Betray and their opponent chooses Ally, well, the reward is always much bigger! Calhoun toss in three cans of food, for those poor saps who don't have access to the cafeteria yet, and along with 50 whole coins, each for a PAIR! Amazing! That just might be enough to put some of you in a nice comfy spot where you can start buying food or amazing goodies in Calhoun's Corner: Sundries and Collectibles for the Discerning Test Subject. Isn't that just great? For anyone who chooses Ally, well, if your opponent chooses Ally as well, then you'll just get the usual BP increase. How boring, but at least you can be all lovely-dovely with each other. If you're the poor sap that chose Ally and got stabbed in the back, well, sorry, you only lose BP, but you might get a little something. He'll find you later about that. But anyway, happy voting! [ Those are the best kind of injuries, okay, but yes, grabbing that arm to check it out. Well, at least it doesn't look that bad. Just bruising. ]

Not as exciting as yours. Whose idea was it to use the plastic arm? Have to give them credit for a creative weapon.

"I suppose... I still get the feeling you're far too used to this, Heiji." Hershel was defeated, Heiji would be Heiji. He couldn't help a small smile. "You know, for all the bad of this I am glad we got to meet. I doubt I would have ever met someone as, ah... exciting as you." That's actually a compliment, believe it or not.

"Oh, I meant to ask, how did your room go?"

He smiled. "Bet you're right! I'm one of a kind!" In more ways than one, of course. "I ain't met anyone like you, either -- I think -- so we're even."

"Anyway, the room didn't go too badly. It was a little creepy, but no one got hurt. I guess that's the best scenario in this place."

Well, Mr. Enjolras wasn't in his right mind at that point. When he hit me he thought he killed me somehow, I think. [Then he said some very troubling, interesting things that Hershel planned on asking him about, if he could.

Maybe when he was done protesting, sigh.] A shame the cafeteria doesn't have ice. [And mentioning the cafeteria makes his expression darken a touch. Guess who probably wasn't eating much because fuck going in the cafeteria ever again? This guy. Smart choice.

He forces a quick recovery and turns to smile at Jake.] Jake, I thought of a puzzle I think you might enjoy, would you like to give it a try?

[ Jake was going to answer Hershel's first remark, but then he asked that question. UHHH, WHERE DID THAT EVEN COME FROM ]

Seriously? Do I look like someone who likes solving puzzles?

[ This is the guy who forced his way through a puzzle because he didn't want to bother solving it, so... ]

Hershel shook his head, so confident. He'd be jealous if he wasn't too preoccupied being amused. "I'm glad to hear it."

"It is at this point... I was worried you may be short handed without Clive to really help, and with Snake..." He frowned. "I'm concerned, he really doesn't seem to be doing well. We need to get him something before it gets worse...."

[Yes, his plan is working hohoho]

Well... no, but these are different than the ones we've done at least? It'd be good practice. [He gives Jake a curious look who wouldn't want to try a puzzle what's wrong with you.]

Heiji frowned; he'd been worried about Snake, too, but they didn't have any painkillers -- just sedatives, and he was afraid that giving Snake too many of those was a bad idea.

"But what, though? You know we don't have access to medical supplies until later. I've been checking up on him, but..."

[puzzlinglad]

"If I get ally for the next two rounds I'll have enough for medical supplies. Until then I guess... we just have to do what we can to keep an eye on him." How useful a suggestion. He sighed.

"Make sure he's eating and hydrated, I guess that's the best we can do right now. I'm worried about Ema too, though. I'm not sure the medical supplies will be enough for both of them."

[ A second or two... ]

Fine, humour me.

[ He'll let go of Hershel's arm now, since he finished checking it up. ]

[ Enjolras lifts his chin when he hears the knock on the door, pausing in his work at trying to finally work some of the shards of glass out of his hand. ]

Yes? [ He sounds terse, sharper than he means to be- but he's finally coming off those damn drugs and everything still feels mildly threatening and uncomfortable and, well. You know how it is. ]

[Since Hershel may well need it. However, by the time he returns, Sasuke will have wandered away somewhere as he does.

"...Do you happen to know if he only quarantines them, or cures them?" He would hope for the latter, but given it's Calhoun, it's hard to say if he would go through the effort to ensure healthy subjects or simply allow them to rot.

"Oh yeah, how's she doing?" asked Heiji. "She was real close-mouthed about it earlier. Snake said he ain't cut her too deep, but... how could he even be sure?"

At this rate, they should all be praying for Hershel's medical supplies.

Heiji shook his head. "Don't know for sure, since we're not allowed outside or wherever he takes 'em. If it's a virus, though, no real way to cure that, anyway. What I do know is it's been 10 days since Kaburagi-han got carted off, and he ain't back."

Heiji's smile turned a little wistful. "I'm sayin' that no matter how good you are, everyone makes mistakes. And everyone has something that they regret."

I suppose there's logic to that. I'm certainly regretting several choices I've made recently but, there's nothing for me to do but suffer the consequences.

Mr. Enjolras, are you alright? [Thank christ you weren't dead he was starting to get seriously concerned okay.]

"Well..." Hershel hesitated, unsure of how to answer that really. "She had a rough time in our puzzle room, so I'm concerned. She doesn't seem as bad as Snake but I can't imagine the pain she's probably in."

Worried worried, concerned concerned. Hopefully no one betrays him because otherwise Zelos was the only one who might get enough BP by the last round.

Heiji looked intensely annoyed. "Why's that Ema gotta be so pigheaded? You know, I asked her how she was doin', and she gave me this speech about how I could yell at her if she wanted but she wasn't sorry for what she did. Y'know, for someone who's supposed to be older than me, she and Jake and Li-- Snake are a bunch of bad decisions just waitin' to happen!"

[ He sounds like he's back to normal, at least. No hallucinations, no spazzing out, just... sitting in an elevator. Minding his own business, and talking to Hershel through the closed door...

He's sore, though. Falling off the stage hadn't exactly been the portrait of pleasant. He hadn't felt it much before, with all of the adrenaline from the gas. Now, it's another story entirely.

He goes back to trying to pick the worst of the glass out of his hands and knuckles. ]

Hershel is torn between defending Ema and wholeheartedly agreeing with every word. He settles for a very long suffering sigh, because yeah. Just... yeah.

"Honestly I worry about Ema a lot- with Snake I think he was just... willing to take the risks, with Jake I think he doesn't want to admit he isn't invincible, but with Ema... I worry she doesn't treat herself with the same care she treats others. She's always telling me to stay out of all this trouble and keep my head down, to stay safe yet..."

Sigh. Sigh. "I hope she understands she's an irreplaceable part of our group."
