At the crack of dawn, presumably, Calhoun gathers everyone in the first floor warehouse to make an announcement.

"That's right, it's time for another of my special events!" He seems pretty pleased with himself. "I noticed you lazy, fat test subjects really let yourselves go last round! It's like I don't feed you here or something."

"Well, I'm worried about your health, always lazing about and not getting proper exercise. So, I decided to be the change I want to see in the world, and so we're going to do something a littttttttllllllle different this time."

"To stop you guys from getting soft from all the fun you're having here, it's time for a little workout."

From one of the doors Calhoun never lets anyone go through there's a loud, metallic banging sound repeating, as if something is trying to get out. Calhoun does not seem troubled at all by this. In fact, he seems pretty excited.

"The rules are simple, everyone's getting sixty coins to use as they see fit. You'll notice the vending machines on both warehouse floors. Anyone who isn't caught will even get a memory back." But what does that mean?

"So go on, survive for 23 hours, I'll even give you a five minute head start. Good luck!"

And with that he scurries off. Should people hang around they'll get to witness that same door open five minutes later. From the door comes several figures, human in shape but something is very, very wrong.

They seem to be robotic, skeletal humans. At one point they must have had some synthetic skin over them but most of it seems to be melting or ripped off. They don't move very fast, mostly they shamble about until they focus on a target. Better hope it's not you!

Ninja boy scout, for sure. Though maybe not such a boy scout what with the knife tossing at random bystanders. Even I don't throw things at people without good reason.

It must have been instinct- I'm sure it was an accident, at least. If he was trying to hurt Snake it wouldn't make much sense to do so the way he did, with so many people around.

[Right he was still holding the skin. He just. puts the fork down on one of the tables.] How have you been feeling, by the way?

I suppose so, I just hope he doesn't beat himself up too much about it.

[He offered a smile, see icon.] I'm not the one who was taking naps on the floor, I'm fine. I wouldn't say no to this nonsense ending and everyone getting a chance to honestly rest though, how utterly ridiculous, even for Calhoun and Zero.

Lying on the floor counts as resting. Worrying about people in the floor doesn't. Don't wear yourself thin, okay?

[Have a sheepish look.] Yes ma'am, I'll do my best not to, promise. At least the robots don't seem overtly violent, it could be worse. I'm guessing if we do well enough Calhoun will give us memories again too.

Ah, that reminds me, have you remembered anything interesting from the cooking? [What possible thug life memories could Ema have gotten back, gossip demands answers.]

Oh, right! I investigated a murder! With science.

... what? So you are with the police? [Why did Zero keep kidnapping police people, what a tool.] Ah, you mean like a forensic investigation, right?

Yeah! ...Maybe not officially? I was home visiting, and ran into my old c-- um, friend Mr. Edgeworth after I tracked him down with my footprint analyzer, and he was having troubles with his investigation--he's a prosecutor, you know--so I helped him out! The power of science can make pretty much anything better, after all.

...I guess it was a couple years ago. I was your age, maybe.

You must be with the police then now, don't you think? If you were helping them out like that. [He had been thinking the mad scientist angle for Ema but yeah, forensic investigator? He could totally see it, Ema to a T.]

Did you end up catching whoever he was after?

Prosecutor Edgeworth always gets his man. He's the best. ...You kinda remind me of him, a little.

That and science always saves the day, right? [He asked with a bit of amusement before looking a little surprised.]

Oh, really? How so?

The logic, the accent, the put-upon expression... What are your feelings on cravats, by the way?

Put-upon... [Excuse you, he probably looked put upon before realizing it and pointedly sighing.] Cravats- I suppose they're alright, a little old fashioned but there's hardly anything wrong with that. I think it'd take a certain person to pull them off though.

... wait, does he really wear a cravat? [He's kind of impressed by this mysterious Miles Edgeworth.]

[honestly she realises that she's the one putting-upon in basically both cases and smiles 'innocently']

Scientifically speaking, I believe it's a jabot. But I think he has cravats, too. He is the type of person who can pull them off very well.

[it's an important job she has. He smiles a bit.] You really seem to respect him, I wonder how you met. Through your family I guess?

[And he frowns at a thought.] Zero is really arrogant, isn't he? Kidnapping someone who's close to some big time prosecutor.

[her smile fades a little as she thinks]

Yeah... I know my sister was a detective at one point. Maybe they worked together, too.

...And you'd think that with all of us knowing the people we know, there'd have to be plenty of people looking for us...right?

That would make sense... I'm not sure how else you'd meet a prosecutor that young. [Surely not during traumatic trials and all that.]

Between you and Heiji definitely, you both seem to have connections with various police forces. [Yet no sign of help, weird and disturbing.] I have no doubt there are people looking for us, at the very least. I just wonder if maybe this is all more complicated than we're thinking. I mean, say they did find us, Zero could threaten our lives fairly easily and I'm not sure what they could do besides try to take control of... wherever we are.

The police don't make deals. There's no way they'd even start talking to Zero without SWAT teams ready to bust in the doors. They've just gotta be working on it...I guess...

Well, you said Mr. Edgeworth always gets his man, right? [Optimism, why not.]

Yeah, of course! So nothing to worry about.
