ambidex voting #11

A M B I D E X  V O T I N G

Chop chop, everyone downstairs to the first floor! You're all done the puzzle rooms, so you know what to do. Well, most of you, but it's pretty basic, just enter any Ambidex Room you like (they're not elevators, you ignorant test subjects) then vote! How does voting work? Very simple! Pick Ally or Betray, and that's it! But with every round, there's always some prizes, depending on what you vote, so here's this rounds:

For anyone who chooses Ally, well, if your opponent chooses Ally as well, then 2BP for each of you. You get all that friendship, blah blah, whatever.

For anyone who chooses Betray, and gets a Betray in return, your BP doesn't change at all, but you might get some coins for your trouble, let's saaaay, 20? Generous, I know.

Now, the best part: for anyone who chooses Betray and their opponent chooses Ally, Calhoun will be very generous with his prizes, again! You'll get 15 coins and a memory! Also, as usual, those who pick Betray get 3BP instead of just 2.

But if you're the poor sap that chose Ally and got stabbed in the back, well, sorry, you lose 2 BP. At least you got stabbed for the greater good, right? And plus, you might get a little something. He'll talk to you later about it.

But anyway, happy voting! Calhoun will see all of you later with the results.

"Well, since Calhoun's goin' on a 'trip', we got some time. It have something to do with Alfendi?"

Yep, getting right down to it. After all, even Hershel had expressed some reservations about Alfendi, and well. Hershel.

He nodded slowly, taking the time to gather his thoughts before speaking. "I woke up in the AB Room, and Alfendi... he was like a completely different person. Very animated, foulmouthed, short-tempered, and... sweaty." No really, he sweated buckets even when he wasn't moving around much and the room wasn't even hot. What the hell Alfendi.

"Anyway, for some reason he couldn't remember who our opponent was. Of course, I didn't know either since I had just woken up, so we agreed to vote Betray out of self-preservation. Honestly, it all felt so... surreal." Naturally they also spent like 99% of the time sassing at each other but that was probably a given.

"He couldn't remember his opponent?" Wow, that was weird as shit, Clive. Even weirder than Alfendi's rant about pizza delivery. "I figured there was more to him than that glazed-over look he's usually wearin', but that's a little troubling."

"Did it seem convincing to you? His claim that he couldn't remember, I mean. Could it have been an act?"

"If it was an act, then he's the best actor I've ever seen. But no, I believe that he was telling the truth. If he really wanted to betray Ema that badly, he could have done so before I even woke up, but he didn't. For a good while he just stood there in front of the machine, not actually doing anything even though he said that he was going to vote Betray. It wasn't until I pestered him about it that he admitted he actually had no idea who we were even up against. So then I encouraged him to go through with his vote."

Basically it was... mostly Clive's fault... He probably could have talked Alfendi into picking Ally instead, but he wasn't willing to take the risk - mostly for Alfendi's sake, since he only had 5 BP.

"...So he didn't remember his opponent, but he remembered the rules of the game? That's... strange. I mean, assumin' you didn't explain the rules to him right then and there, of course."

What the heck kind of soap opera condition was this, anyway...

"Okay, you said he was like a different person. As in a separate personality? Or was it more like it was him, but just in a highly agitated state?"
vengefulyears: (my little luke)

[personal profile] vengefulyears 2014-11-26 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, I didn't. He already knew." Very strange indeed...

"I hesitate to call it a separate personality because it sounds so... unrealistic, but that's exactly what it seemed like. His behavior and mannerisms were the complete opposite of how he normally is in every single way possible. It was quite jarring to wake up to." Didn't really help that he was expecting Jake to still be in the room with him, not Alfendi.

"Yeah, well," said Heiji, looking none too pleased with this particular development, "This whole situation is pretty unrealistic."

Maybe this was what Hershel had been talking about earlier. "But it makes sense. I was wondering how anyone could be as imperturbable as he was when I started talking to him about the 'game' here. Guess now I know."

He looked Clive over quickly. "You didn't get any extra injuries in there, did you? You're feelin' okay?"

[personal profile] vengefulyears 2014-11-26 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, I suppose you're right about that." Just Clive's luck to have to deal with all of this right after waking up from another coma, right?

"Oh, so you found out about my injury from the grey room?" He shouldn't even be surprised, really - Heiji always seemed to know everything. "No, don't worry, Alfendi didn't hurt me. Honestly, I'm feeling very tired and overwhelmed from this whole ordeal, and my wound from last round still hurts a bit, but I'll be fine."
detectiveofthewest: (Heiji: cheeky)

[personal profile] detectiveofthewest 2014-11-26 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah," said Heiji, smiling a little. "You should have seen the way Hershel was fussin' over you! It really was like a mother hen and her chick!" Just going to conveniently leave out the part where he was fussing over Snake shh.

Hmm, but if Clive was tired... "I'll quit botherin' you if you want to take a nap or something."

Although really, Clive should stretch out his limbs a bit after all that coma-ing.

"H-He was?" Oh no, now Clive was embarrassed... He didn't even know that Snake had been in a coma as well so he couldn't use that as a distraction. Dammit, Heiji.

And then after a moment of consideration: "You can stay if you want to." He didn't actually want to sleep yet despite his exhaustion, anyway.
detectiveofthewest: (Heiji: whisper)

[personal profile] detectiveofthewest 2014-11-26 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hey, whatcha gettin' all shy for?" asked Heiji, grinning, as he reached over to ruffle Clive's hair. THE INDIGNITY.

"He totally was, though. Changed your bandages on the regular once he found out about your arm. I thought it was best to just let him do it. He's been learning first aid, y'know."

Clive was not at all expecting Heiji to do that, so he just sat there in surprise as Heiji ruffled his hair. History's greatest monster right here.

"I'm not getting shy," he said in the most indignant tone. Clive how old are you again???

Then he paused thoughtfully, trying really hard to hide his lingering embarrassment but probably not doing a very good job at it. "I see. That was very kind of him. I'll have to find a way to repay him later."

Eheheheh. Operation Hair Ruffling complete.

"Well, that shouldn't be too hard. Somehow he reminds me of a mom. You know, like the kind with little kids who give her a handmade card and then she's like 'wow, what a masterpiece!'" That's right, Hershel. Line up for your mom apron, it has scarlet letters on the front just for you.
