ambidex voting #13

A M B I D E X  V O T I N G

Another round, maybe this one will end better? Less blood and gore even? No? Well, here are the conditions regardless.:

For anyone who chooses Ally, well, if your opponent chooses Ally as well, then 2BP for each of you and blah blah blah, predictable. Bore him to tears why don't you.

For anyone who chooses Betray, and gets a Betray in return, everyone's BP stays the same and one of you gets fifty coins! That'd be fun, right? A cheeky little gamble. The rest get a pat on the back and that warm feeling of a vote well voted.

Last but certainly not least: for anyone who chooses Betray and their opponent chooses Ally, same deal as last time, two whole memories! Eh, eh? Come on, that's a pretty good deal, right? Take the offer! And the ally person well, they get the usual.

So, happy voting! Calhoun will see all of you later with the results.

[and he just glances between them, wondering if he should even go forward with this. did he even want ema to give him BP??? no, not really, but fine, he's try he GUESSES.

aka he sort of stands straighter]
Yes. Absolutely.

[ Annnnnd Calhoun will just stare between them before tsking. ] Nice try, Science Test Subject-- and by 'nice try' I mean 'why did you think what was going to work exactly,' but let's not argue semantics.

No deal, no BP swapping on my watch, cheating test subjects! Now quit crowding the stand before I decide to test how well your bracelets are working. Routine maintenance, you know, and it has been a while, hasn't it?

Now listen here, you hideous little weasel--

[but honestly she doesn't really have anything more than that; her hands don't make it much further than digging into her own palms as she tries to decide if it's really not worth it to do exactly what calhoun expects her to and lunge for that spindly little ratty neck...to no avail...but still, to try...]

[yeah hershel is immediately going to stand in front of her just incase she really did want to make that magical dream of what, the fourth drugging? a reality.]

Come on, Ema, he's not worth it. Let's go, I can fill you in more on what you missed. [which honestly isn't much but hey he'll try anything at this point.]

[surely there's been more than four! and if she were alone there'd definitely be another attempt, but in this case she'll have to settle for failure of the conscious variety. she may be the worst friend but she's not that worst of a friend. while her jaw is clenched too tightly to give hershel more than a grunt of grudging assent, she does turn and head towards wherever cooler heads can prevail, the garden, sure, cool. will there ever be a day when calhoun doesn't rile her to level infinity? all signs point to no...]

[honestly hershel is just stunned and happy she had that much self control, he was really expecting to have to drag her away to the couch again. as he walks up beside her he looks kind of proud- you did it, ema. you're the adult here.

and when they reach the garden he kind of has to sit down because yeah, no food for a while, pretty good. just making it as casual as possible of a bench sit down, excellent.]

You know the grey room is probably going to be tough for you, Calhoun really enjoys getting under your skin- and Jake's too. [now he's worried again, well. it can't go worse than last time, probably.]
skyentificmethod: (the reflex)

[personal profile] skyentificmethod 2015-01-24 10:30 am (UTC)(link)
[being the adult really isn't satisfying at all, though :<

she plops down next to him sulking well, basically sulking. but once she's done with that she'll go back to worried/irritated fiddling with her hair.]

Like I care what that thing thinks. I-- [she stops, starts over] And Jake told me he'd keep his jacket intact for at least a week, so he'd better be good. [there, that was something relatively safe to think about]
puzzlinglad: (1)

[personal profile] puzzlinglad 2015-01-24 10:58 am (UTC)(link)
[the curse of being an adult, i'm afraid. avoid random druggings as much as possible.

and he shakes his head, shockingly no property damage to the jacket.]
It's alright, as far as I've seen. He- well, alright, Alfendi may have bled on it a bit, I'm not sure if that's the one he had on in that room. Did you get that for him?
skyentificmethod: (wild boys)

[personal profile] skyentificmethod 2015-01-24 11:08 am (UTC)(link)
[does it count as a random drugging when you pretty much know it's going to happen and egg it on nevertheless?]

I guess so. Better than having him walk around in ripped up rags like it was the late 20th century or something. Some trends just never need to come back into style.
puzzlinglad: (n13)

[personal profile] puzzlinglad 2015-01-24 11:35 am (UTC)(link)
[alright maybe random is a strong word, how about bimonthly druggings then]

But his dramatic, sweeping coats are fashionable? [rude to poor jake] Oh, speaking of christmas gifts, I wanted to use one of the cards you gave me. Since you have that organ now I was wondering if maybe you could give me lessons? I can't promise I'd be any good but it'd be better than sitting around between puzzle rooms- if it's not asking too much, I mean. [just stumbles a bit on the end there, whoops maybe this was too big of a favor, what a stupid thing to worry about suddenly]
skyentificmethod: (lowdown)

[personal profile] skyentificmethod 2015-01-24 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[yes, better to think of it as a scheduled event]

He's too old to know fashion if it smacked him in the leathery face. [honestly is there any other way to be to jake?

And she smiles, shaking her head]
Of course it's fine, if you really want to learn. I don't know how good of a teacher I am, and I'll have to rustle up some sheet music, so fair warning. What made you want to do it?
puzzlinglad: (4)

[personal profile] puzzlinglad 2015-01-25 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
[i'm sure it's very good for your health]

Well, I suppose keeping up with the times is difficult. [no, there's really not apparently.]

It's interesting, I suppose. I doubt I've ever considered learning something like the organ, I really wonder what made you decide to start. [he smiled, amused.] Besides, it'd be something to say I came out of this nonsense learning how to play an instrument, of all things.

[personal profile] skyentificmethod 2015-01-25 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
[it's surprisingly restful]

When I was growing up, my sister had an organ in her office. It wasn't hers, but the police chief's. I always wanted to play it so badly. I don't know if that's the reason I started taking lessons, but definitely was a reason I kept doing it. And I guess if you're after that accomplishment, I'll have to do a decent job. Though if it doesn't work out, you could always go for Snake's keytar or whatever.
puzzlinglad: (36)

[personal profile] puzzlinglad 2015-01-25 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
The police chief just... had an organ in his office? [japanifornia is such a mysterious place.] Well, that certainly explains it. I can't imagine seeing something like that and not wanting to give it a try.

[and he shakes his head.] It's a shame we don't have a piano too, the ah... keytar, was it? Leaves something to be desired. Are the organ and piano similar enough that you could play both?
skyentificmethod: (take on me)

[personal profile] skyentificmethod 2015-01-25 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
If someone made the chief angry, he'd play his organ at them for hours. It was very loud. ...Come to think of it, he chief's office was really big, especially just for two people. I guess they were really lucky. I dunno if I ever used it but I hope I did...

Yeah, the organ and piano use the same type of sheet music and keyboard layout, so I should be able to play it, even if not very well. ...Zelos and I tried to get that piano from the gallery, but alas. Maybe I should've gotten someone else to help out.

That's a creative punishment... [his brow rose, he'd thankfully never know the wonder that was gant, praise everything.] He sounds like a strange bloke but I don't see why he wouldn't let you take a go at it. America's a rather mental place, isn't it? Somehow I can't see the Yard filled with organ music.

It might be worth a shot if Calhoun ever opens all the rooms up again. Jake would probably be a bit more of a help, though if it was bolted to the floor... well, maybe we could find a way around that.
skyentificmethod: (wild boys)

[personal profile] skyentificmethod 2015-01-25 08:34 am (UTC)(link)
Amazing the lessons you can teach without even a single drugging. Zero could learn a few things from Chief Gant. [:'D]

If you're looking for a piano, I'll help you out. Our problem was that it wouldn't fit through the door. I didn't wanna break it, especially since it was roughly a million pounds. Maybe the next time we're assaulted by horror movie rejects...
puzzlinglad: (36)

[personal profile] puzzlinglad 2015-01-26 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
[that's such a horrifying sentence and hershel, being ignorant, only smiles at it.] Well he did try that a little with Monster Mash during halloween I suppose. It was... effective.

Maybe if you take the legs off and move it on it's side? The problem would be putting them back on later, I imagine. Or we can just have a very short piano.
skyentificmethod: (save a prayer)

[the worst conversation being had here] Effective in prompting me to self-medicate. So maybe I've just trumped my point.

Hopefully playing piano on the ground like the kid in that old comic strip won't be necessary... Guess it's a pretty moot point unless we get a chance to run wild again. ...Too bad we couldn't reprogram any of those robots.
puzzlinglad: (4)

[personal profile] puzzlinglad 2015-01-26 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
[gant fanclub, nothing wrong with that at all.] At the very least I think an organ would be a tad more pleasant to listen to than what a graveyard smash halloween was.

I wonder if that monster was one- well, it must have been, right? It's not like monsters actually exist. [going to die first in a horror movie, this one.] Maybe Calhoun will give us a chance to request things again, as shocking as that was the first time.
skyentificmethod: (take on me)

[personal profile] skyentificmethod 2015-01-26 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
[membership should be a little more limited than this] The organ's a pretty great instrument, scientifically speaking. The pipe organ was the most complex man-made device from the 17th century to the invention of the telephone exchange! Now, the one we've got is a little simpler than that. But you could use it to play jazz or swing if you wanted to.

You think the blue thing was a robot? ...Yeah, that makes a lot more sense than--other explanations. Okay. [the virgin sticks around for a while, right? so don't get too fresh in those puzzle rooms] And I find that doubtful, at least in ways not to just laugh in our faces. I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop, to be honest.
puzzlinglad: (37)

[personal profile] puzzlinglad 2015-01-26 10:17 am (UTC)(link)
[the entire club should be cleansed from the earth with fire.] Is there a big difference in sound between a pipe organ and what we have here? I imagine there must be, if what I'm remembering a pipe organ looks like is right.

It's all I can come up with barring we were all drugged and hallucinating or monsters do exist. Given the last time we hallucinated I'd say this was a little tame and... well, coherent. [never forget the beauty of the theatre, he sure won't.] I won't say I didn't feel the same- I skimmed through the book Clive got me just to make sure it wasn't half full of blank pages.
skyentificmethod: (west end girls)

[personal profile] skyentificmethod 2015-01-27 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
[not with swimming?] It's definitely a unique sound. This one doesn't blow air through pipes, for one. Instead it creates an electric current by rotating a metal tonewheel near an electromagnetic pickup, and that's how it makes sound. There's a lot more details to that, but you've gotta be a real tech geek to care about them.

Yeah, compared to last time... Ugh, let's just...not think about this. [what if we want to forget the theater, what if it's something we pray for every night before falling asleep] Did you finish it? Maybe every other word is a curse. Or it's a cliffhanger ending without a sequel.
