So do you have any idea what snaps him out of a mood?

Ah, yes, sorry. [Whoops, have a sheepish tone at that before he pauses to consider the question.]

The last and only time I saw him switch was when I accidentally hurt him when I was bandaging his wrists. Kuzuryuu mentioned something similar happening when they were in a room together- I suppose pain might be a trigger. Of course that leads to a great many problems, we can hardly go hurting him just to get him to change.

I keep hoping I'll remember something about him... maybe then there will be some clue.

True. Zero and Calhoun seem to have the pain angle covered so there's no need for us to add to it.

*Snake canted his head to one side in thought.* He does have the same last name as you. Have you determined if there's some kind of familial relation?

Absolutely. It's hard enough here as it is.

[and he sighs] Well, Alfendi finally admitted to me he remembers me. He's not sure how we're related and he refused to go into more detail but I doubt he'd lie about something like that, especially after he went through such an effort to keep it to himself. I think we must be, probably not by blood since I was adopted but by name and bond.

You were adopted? I didn't realize. *The things he's finding out today. Maybe he'll find out more about Clive and make it a hat trick. Snake mulls over the information.* Is Alfendi a lot older than you? I didn't really get a sense of his age by his voice.

Oh, yes, I had a memory where I learned that. [it's hard for him to keep track of who knew what anymore, everyone was so involved in each other's lives at this point.] I suppose it's entirely possible Alfendi was adopted too but I'm not sure.

Yes, he seems to be, by at least a decade if not more. It's a little hard to tell how old he actually is though- I think he may be older than Ema and Jake at the very least.

Then he's also older than me...which would make him the oldest person stuck here. *Unless Zero is 100 years old or something.* So that would definitely make him a cousin at the very least.

*Since Hershel brought up the idea of family, he is curious.* What do you remember about your parents? Are they nice people?

Yes, it seems like he is. I think you, Ema and Alfendi are probably the oldest, though it doesn't seem by that much. [He brought a hand to his chin as he thought it over.] I suppose Zero has an age group he's focusing on, late teens to late twenties, possibly? Strange.

[and his tone brightens a little, his parents are rad.] I remember them- my adopted parents, that is. They're lovely people, my mother's a bit of a fusspot, I suppose that's where I get it from, and my father's very laid back. I hope they're alright, wherever they are now. [He shakes his head.] Do you remember your parents much?

It would certainly seem that way. To what end, only Zero knows.

*Snake inclined his head a little and smiled.* They sound like good people. Although I do wonder if your mother worries and fusses after people more or less than you do, Hershel.

My parents? Well, I did get another visual memory and in it I saw my mother. The other memory that I have where I'm thinking about my parents was that one where we determined I was being most likely cross-examined in court. It's not a lot but perhaps I'll remember more in the future.

I suppose whatever this experiment is this is the age group he's currently testing, although... Mr. Kaguragi was a lot older, wasn't he? I think he might have been in his forties.

[He chuckles.] More, I think. I don't remember much about her but she seemed to fuss at anything that seemed remotely worrisome. Even I'm not that bad.

Did you get a sense of your relationship with them? You seem very close to your sister, I do hope it's the same for your parents.

I've thought about this a lot. What kind of relationship I must have with my parents. Even though I don't quite know, I can take a guess. *Snake held up his left hand.* The fact I have this, the fact I can read braille, the fact that I know a lot of subjects, it tells me that parents did whatever they could to help me excel in whatever field I wanted. I think you could call that a kind of closeness.
