CALHOUN HOUR - REINTRODUCTION
Back on the morning of Day 90, the original group has been given access to a new location, The Library, only after seeing this note:
"Ahem, aaaaahem!! Okay, so! I'm sure that you illiterate bunch have seen my note on the floor earlier today, which tells you to all go to the library. If you're not there already, then get in there, because I'm going to tell you about a seeeeecret ennnnntranceeee, ohhhhhhh." There's a few more seconds of 'ohhh's and 'ahhhh's before Calhoun moves on. "Normally, I'd have you play Moonlight Sonata on the piano to open up the hidden doorway, but that's too much work, so just get over to the furthest bookshelf in the back and give it a biiiiig pull. I've unlocked it for you already, so it'll just swing right open like a door! Go through it and I'll see you losers soon." The intercom goes silent, but true to his word, should someone pull back the extremely heavy bookcase, a long and dark hallway is presented to them. It certainly hasn't seen much use, as evidenced by the dust and cobwebs, but once everyone reaches the end of the hall, an identical first floor lobby greets them. Every single window bolted shut, and only florescent lights illuminate the room. The security cameras line up in the exact same locations, a row of Ambidex Rooms lined up against the wall, and there's even an identical Number 9 door. It's an exact replica, asides from a "few" details... A large blinking sign hangs up high on the centre of the back wall. It reads "CALHOUN'S PLEASURE PARADISE" and features a large photo of Calhoun with a large wad of flaming cash in one hand, which he holds underneath a cigar super glued to his gas mask. It's unique, to say the least, and there are rows and rows of slot machines line up in the centre. Tables with games such as blackjack and poker take up the sides, and there's even a pool table nearby. One end has a small mini-bar, with all the crab legs you can eat, and loud music blares throughout the entire room. Unfortunately(?), a good number of the machines and tables are being run by your favourite robotic friends, complete with damaged synthetic skin. They don't answer or seem responsive, other than playing on the slots or dishing out cards, and they each have a cigar or two stuck in their mouths, which Calhoun must have shoved in there. Speaking of the rodent, Calhoun sits at a large table with a deck of cards, dressed in a long white dress shirt and a red vest. The cigar glued to his mask, as shown in the sign, still remains, and he adjusts his bow tie at the sight of everyone. "Happy anniversary, test subjects! What's a better way to celebrate this disgustingly heart crushing moment but to go all out with a taste of Las Vegas!" He shouts, but then places a paw to his chin. "Or was it Los Plagas... It was Las or Los something. It's way too hard to keep track of the million places." He looks back up and waves it off. "Whatever, anyway! Go ahead and gamble, drink to your heart's content, I don't care, just do something useful while you're here, all right? And because I know that some of you don't have any coins because you're bad with money management or just really dumb or something, and also because I'm such a kind mouse, I left you all a little baggie gift at the bar." "I better see you gambling those off though! What fun would it be if you don't try to test your luck?" |
BASIC INFO
✖ This Calhoun Hour will go towards AC as usual. You do not have to complete this event, but you do need to have a minimum of 10 comments from you.
✖ Every single door and Ambidex Room in this new lobby is locked, preventing access to it.
✖ Everyone is given 25 coins and a ticket that reads 'ONE (1) MEMORY' at the beginning of the event.
✖ Characters are able to bet coins or even their own memories in hopes of winning more prizes. You may be able to read what kind of games they will play here.
✖ Most games are linked to a site that has an online version of the game. Players are more than free to base their character's winnings through that online version in threads, or actually tag out a game. Feel more than free to use a different version of the game if needed.
✖ The ticket that characters receive will be to receive one memory. They may win/buy a maximum of three additional tickets, for a total of four in this event.
✖ The coins may be exchanged for prizes in the usual Calhoun's Corner or the special one-time Casino Shop.
✖ This event will last for 4 OOC days and 1 IC day. It ends on August 11th at 11:59PM EST.
✖ Turn-ins are due at the end of the event on August 11th. There are no threads to turn in, but we do require a log of all things that are won/redeemed.
✖ If you have any questions? Ask and we will try to get back to you asap.
✖ Have a nice trick!
EVENTS
Come by the bar and let the robot serve you a drink. There's plenty of room and an unlimited amount of crab legs and peanuts. Take a breather, sit down, talk about your problems, and how you lost all of your coins. Sit right up at the bar or at one of the two small tables nearby.
There is a third table but it's currently occupied by two robots, with a large puddle of beer on the floor. One in a blue vest sits there, one hand holding an entire pitcher while the other grasps onto a photo of another robot, but this one with long flowing brown hair (that is obviously a wig glued on). The other in a blue jumpsuit, hand also wrapped around a pitcher and holding a photo, but just of a cat. They both just sit there in a puddle of their own shame and refuse to interact with anyone.
【 BLACKJACK 】
Your typical blackjack. You may only bet coins for this game.
【 HIGH OR LOW 】
This is a game run by Calhoun and is the only game in the entire event that you must play with a mod. Characters must interact with Calhoun to partake in this game, which only consists of guessing whether or not the face down card is high or low. A card numbered 2 to 7 is low, while a card numbered from 8 to King is high, and an ace will always result in a loss.
This game only uses memories as bargaining chips, and characters may be able to win up to three extra memories in this game. If they lose their memory ticket that they've received at the beginning of the event, or refuse to use it, they are allowed to bet any previously gained memories instead.
There are three rounds to the game.
1) You must bet one memory (the "original") to play. If characters win, they will gain one extra memory. If they lose, they will lose the original.
2) Characters can have the choice to go double-or-nothing. If characters win, they will win a second extra memory. If they lose, they will lose the memory that they won in the first round, but be able to keep their original one.
3) The last round of the game. If characters decide to go for one more and win, they will get a third extra memory. If they lose, they will both memories they have won in round one and two, but be able to keep their original one.
【 POKER 】
A good old round of Texas Hold 'Em or any other type of poker you'd like to play. You may only bet coins for this game.
【 POOL 】
A single pool table with everything needed for a nice game of hitting balls with sticks.
【 ROULETTE 】
Play a simple game of roulette with yourself or with others! You may only bet coins for this game.
【 SLOT MACHINE 】
Your typical slot machine. Match up the Akiko heads and get something special! (Spoilers: you just get disappointment and shame confetti). You may only bet coins for this game.

[ Asides from that, you'll find him mostly around the bar, helping himself to the drinks there, and most likely by the pool table, which he looks ridiculously cocky at (like ten times more than usual). ]

The point is he looks pretty lost on how to even deal with this event, and decides that bugging Jake is an age old pasttime that needs to be upheld. Just heading up to the Jake pool scene.] You're not gambling? [He sounds a little surprised because he could somehow imagine Jake going nuts for this sort of unwholesome thing. What a friend.] ... why do you have that look on your face?

Secondly, eventually, he'll head over to the slots curiously. Will he try them?? Who knows. It's not like there's anything upsetting like Akiko's dead face on them so truly, what's the harm.]

Are you thinking of playing?
[If any of the games have low odds, he'd figure it would be the slots...]

HI MODS / otherwise open!
[First things first, he'll go ahead and eat, because someone might as well see if the food's trustworthy or not. The fact that he hasn't passed out or felt sick from the first crab leg is a good sign, so he'll go ahead and stick with that. Come chat up the quiet ninja kid?]
[Black Jack]
[Well, he has twenty five extra coins, and there are some interesting prizes, so... He'll just play and see how long it lasts him.
He starts off setting down five of his twenty five coins... and immediately gets an ace and a ten. That was surprisingly easy.]
[HIGH OR LOW]
[With the memories he's gotten so far, he doesn't actually have any strong opinions on whether or not he gets a memory from this. So with that in mind, clearly there's no reason to hold back from recklessly betting it.]
This is where we use our memory tickets, right?

[As exciting as the tinkle of slots and the Trump-like glitz of the table games are, Ema just grabs a plate of crab legs before parking herself at the bar, figuring that, scientifically speaking, she'll get more bang for her buck taking the gamble on food poisoning first of all. Still, if her luck holds for that, some more game-like wagers could be in order! Or, if anyone needs a drink...she makes a pretty mean Shirley Temple?]
