the gym

How did you like all of your Christmas gifts, test subjects? It sure was worth it, sitting on Santa Calhoun's lap, right? Unless you just submitted your choices in the suggestion box, then well, good job on getting out of that, he guesses.

Anyway, Calhoun, being the sweet mouse that he is, he has one last present for you all, so get up to the second floor. See how there was this one door that wasn't accessible before? Well, now it is. Everyone shuffle inside and meet your new gym! Ahhh, smell that sweat in the air? The musty scent of unwashed mats? Isn't this just nice?

There's a treadmill over there, a punching bag over here, a row of lockers, oh my, just so many things! How can Calhoun be this generous to such worthless test subjects? Well, it helps that everything looks pretty second-hand and that there's a very suspicious amount of blood on a few items, but details details, you should be just glad that you've got a place to stay in shape.

Sheesh, picky test subjects.

"Yeah? Is it bad? I got a first aid kit for that Christmas party, I don't mind using it on him."

Face it, Alfendi was probably a walking contagion factory. Maybe hosing him down with some Neosporin or something would make him slightly less likely to succumb to old age.

"It's... not good." Hershel answered after a pause. "I think he'll be alright for now, it's hard to tell how he's doing when he's unconscious. At least nothing looks infected."

And he glanced over. "Ah, that reminds me actually, Sasuke mentioned maybe we should put any spare bandages we can spare in one of the lockers. It'd probably be easier for the more stubborn people to take them if they're just free to use rather than feeling like someone's sacrificing something for them."

Heiji sighed. "It's the same either way, ain't it? But I guess Jake wouldn't take any unless they were lyin' around."

He opened one of the lockers, fished around, and put some of his extra bandages inside. "Let's check on him later, then, see if he's okay."

"Well... you have a point there. Still, it's worth a shot, isn't it? Short of doing the same old song and dance." Stubborn idiots, man.

Hershel followed that example, there you go, at least they're trying, probably in vain. He smiled a bit at that though. "Alright, if you aren't too busy." With your boyfriend, left unsaid. You're welcome.

"I can see it now," said Heiji, channeling Hershel's shitlordery for a minute. "Jake sneakin' over to get some in secret so no one'll ever know it was him."

"So anyway, what've you been up to? Find a good use for the... uh... sweater?"

It's your own shitlord heart Heiji, beating in your chest. Embrace it. Aka Hershel laughed quietly because if it's at Jake's expense it's not being a shitlord, really. "I rather like the imagine of Jake sneaking in here like a child after curfew. He does insist he's so youthful, afterall."

"Not much I suppose, I was thinking of asking Ema to give me lessons on that new organ she got put in the lounge." Hershel mused. "There's not much else to do around here, really... as for that-" Sigh. "You'll have to see for yourself. It is your gift-in-progress, you know." He reached into his bag, pulling out... the world's ugliest looking socks?? He looked vaguely amused.

"Ta-da... so far. I want to try to make them... well, less terrible but soon. At least they'll keep your feet warm? Probably."
detectiveofthewest: (Heiji: just between you and me ♥)

"Well, they're, uh. They definitely look warm, anyway!" Sorry, Hershel. Those socks were kind of hideous. But the did look serviceable. "They might double as pretty good mittens, too, I guess."

He laughed. "Oh, that reminds me. Jake wasn't gonna get anything for himself; didn't wanna sit on Calhoun's lap, he said. But I guess he found a way around it, after all."
