ambidex voting #3

A M B I D E X  V O T I N G

After escaping your rooms, talking with others, swiping your Ambidex Room cards, and entering, Calhoun appears on the screen to very briefly explain how the AB Voting works (45 minutes to either choose to Ally or Betray, you gain/lose points depending on what your opponent chooses), but to also introduce this round's prizes.

That's right, this round has a whole new set of prizes! They're a bit different from the last round, so listen carefully!

For anyone who chooses Betray, they will be getting a standard first aid kit and a can of food. Calhoun noticed that some of you managed to hurt themselves in the puzzle rooms, so he highly encourages you to take advantage of this one-time opportunity for free medical supplies!

For anyone who chooses Betray and their opponent chooses Ally, you will get a memory regain instead of a can of food! After all, you'll have access to the cafeteria so it won't really be necessary. Unless your name is Clive Dove.

For anyone who chooses Ally, well, if your opponent chooses Ally as well, not only will all of your BP increase, you'll even get a gold star of friendship! Doesn't that sound wonderful?

If you're the poor sap that chose Ally and got stabbed in the back, well, sorry, you only lose BP, but maybe Calhoun will have something for you. He likes all of his test subjects, so he won't forget anyone here.

But anyway, happy voting! Calhoun will see all of you later with the results.

"Well, it's just that we ain't talked much, that's all," said Heiji, scrubbing a hand through his hair. Plus, he'd figured Clive would be too preocuppied by thoughts of food for anything else.

"I was off to the side looking at that bulletin board by the door, y'know? Seein' if there was anything that'd help us out figuring out the pills and dolls. Then all of a sudden, outta nowhere, there's this huge racket and knives flyin' everywhere and one of them's spitting up something smells like bile."

Heiji made a face just remembering it. "As you can see, I was out of range for the latter and didn't escape the former. They figured out the middle one, but I guess they got the first and third swapped."

"True, but I still care about your well-being just as much as everyone else's, you know." Well, almost everyone else's. Clive couldn't say he cared too much about what happened to Jake and Hershel.

He had to try really hard not to laugh at Heiji's little story. It gave him a sweet sense of schadenfreude to know that Jake and Hershel fucked up a puzzle that he himself had absolutely no problems with whatsoever. "I see... Well, I'm sorry that you were hurt because of their incompetence. Hopefully they've learned from their mistakes."

"Learned something, that's for sure," said Heiji. "But Hershel doesn't seem like the kinda person that'd just brute-force a problem like that. So I'm sure it was just a mistake in reasonin'."

He couldn't fault someone for making an honest mistake, after all. "Anyway, glad to see you made it out all right. "

"Yes, well, I can't say I enjoyed sticking my hands in all those toilets, but Zelos and Light were both very pleasant to work with, so I can't complain too much." Especially since they kept their word about voting Ally against him.

"Now that I think about it, you and Ema are the only ones I haven't been in a puzzle room with yet. I hope I'll get the chance to work with both of you soon."

"Glad to hear it. Light's a little more suspicious than me, but he's a good guy." Heiji tapped his temple. "He's got some smarts, too. If there's anyone I'd rather work with in here, it's him."

"Anyway, I got a feeling we're all going to get to know each other in here. But I admit, I am kinda curious about you guys. It'll be nice to see your operatin' procedure. That Jake guy's idea of solving a puzzle is to smash it open. Gave me a real shock!"

I mean who even did things like that was Jake a gorilla

"Heh... Makes me glad that Hershel and I handled all the puzzle solving in the incinerator. I suppose Jake is useful for heavy lifting and reaching objects in high places, though..." Clive didn't stand a chance of reaching that handle on the top shelf. Being one of the shortest people in the warehouse was suffering.

"Anyway, my procedure is to take it nice and steady, and think carefully before acting. After all, critical thinking is the key to success, especially in a situation like this." The fact that Clive had yet to sustain a single injury even from the infirmary should attest to how careful he was.

"Yeah? Guess I usually look around and pile up clues. Then bam, it comes together all at the same time." At least, that was how it had happened so far. Who knew? Maybe Heiji worked differently when he had all his memories.

"...but the knife thing happened while I was still lookin' around. Light told me to be careful in that room, but I didn't figure on having to look out for my partners, too." Food for thought in the future!

"So how'd you end up bein' on toilet duty? Or did ya all take turns?"
