After escaping your rooms, talking with others, swiping your Ambidex Room cards, and entering, Calhoun appears on the screen to very briefly explain how the AB Voting works (45 minutes to either choose to Ally or Betray, you gain/lose points depending on what your opponent chooses), but to also introduce this round's prizes.

That's right, this round has a whole new set of prizes! They're a bit different from the last round, so listen carefully!

For anyone who chooses Betray, they will be getting a standard first aid kit and a can of food. Calhoun noticed that some of you managed to hurt themselves in the puzzle rooms, so he highly encourages you to take advantage of this one-time opportunity for free medical supplies!

For anyone who chooses Betray and their opponent chooses Ally, you will get a memory regain instead of a can of food! After all, you'll have access to the cafeteria so it won't really be necessary. ~~Unless your name is Clive Dove.~~

For anyone who chooses Ally, well, if your opponent chooses Ally as well, not only will all of your BP increase, you'll even get a gold star of friendship! Doesn't that sound wonderful?

If you're the poor sap that chose Ally and got stabbed in the back, well, sorry, you only lose BP, but maybe Calhoun will have something for you. He likes all of his test subjects, so he won't forget anyone here.

How could that have happened? He knew the layout of the room and the doll had only thrown one knife. Unless, of course, Zero decided to make it more interesting for the next group.

He sighed. "Fine then." He lowers his voice to a normal tone, his eyebrows raising in some concern. "Are you actually all right? Did the bleeding stop? Can you put any weight on your leg?"

"Aww, I should be back to normal in a week or two," said Heiji. He was probably not putting as much importance on his injury now that it had been attended to as Light might have preferred.

"I can walk on it, but I guess I'd better lay off climbing and running until it heals up. Got Ema to take the knife out and wrap it up, and she tied the last part extra tight, so I got some good support." Of course, he was leaving out the part where she'd tied the last part extra tightly out of retaliation, but who was keeping track?

"Y'know, after what happened to you, I figured we'd have to look out for fire hazards -- but that's the one thing we didn't encounter."

Well, if you annoyed her in any way, he could clearly see why that might have happened to you. Clearly you have things to learn about tact and women, Heiji.

"That would have been the red doll you didn't seem to trigger. I tried placing just a pill in it to test it out and it burst into flame." His fingers still looked a little red but they looked to be healing. "I think it helped that they only touched fire for half a second."

At least Heiji sounded in good spirits. "I suppose if you need to, you can use me as a crutch. After all, what are..." He trailed off. He looked surprised at his own words.

GUESS WHO WAS COMING IN FOR A SHOUNEN SIDE HUG, BUDDY. That's right, it was this guy!

"Come on, don't be shy!" said Heiji, practically grinning from ear to ear. "We're pals, ain't we? When we get outta here, I'm gonna treat you to a grand tour of Osaka! We can pick up some kushikatsu and visit Shitennouji. Oh yeah, bet you haven't been to the rose garden in Nakanoshima, huh? When those things bloom, the whole place smells like roses! You'll be sick of 'em!"

He was abruptly side-hugged by someone who clearly should be suffering in pain but still had the strength to display affection.

"We need to have a little chat about your use of casual physical displays of affection. Do you mind -warning- me when you're doing that? At the very least, don't do that if I can't pinpoint where you are. It makes me nervous." And yet, he didn't push Heiji away, accepting the hug for what it was. "Although...I think...it is good to have one friend. And I don't know anything about Osaka so I don't believe I've been there before."

Heiji always had the strength to display affection. Also to argue.

"You mean like 'Look out! Coming in for a landing!'?" Heiji thought this over for half a second. "Well, seems a little weird, but I guess so."

"Anyway, you gotta stop talking like you don't have any friends. That Hershel fella seems nice; I bet you two'd get along real well. Actually, while I was talking to him I figured out that I probably lived in either Tokyo or Osaka. Probably Osaka, since I know more about it."

"Just...at least let me know where you are if you must display such affection." C'mon man, help a brother out, Heiji.

"I guess that would make sense. I've tried to think about where I'm from and the nearest I can figure is somewhere in Washington State. Possibly. I seem to know a bit about the Space Needle, so perhaps I've been there before." That and he's dying for some real coffee.

"Will do," said Heiji, who was just going to take that as tacit permission for more extravagant affection later. He let Light go, at least.

"Seattle, huh? That's Kobe's sister city. Too bad it wasn't San Francisco." Heiji was mostly just pining for some good old-fashioned fried batter. "Never been to the Space Needle. What's it like?"

Welp, he's just going to have to get used to being hugged.

"I can't say if I've been there, but I know it was built for the 1962 World's Fair. There are elevators that take you to the massive observation deck at the top. There are also revolving restaurants so that in the course of an hour, you'll be able to see all of Seattle from your seat. Not nearly as tall as the CN Tower in Toronto, but it has a certain charm."

"So you been to one of those restaurants? What kinda stuff did they have there?" At the mentions of restaurants, he couldn't help but perk up. In Heiji's defense, uh. Canned food for over a week?

"Heard the Pacific Northwest region was famous for salmon. But that's one of those fish that's risky to eat raw cause of all the parasites. You gotta freeze it to make sure you don't get sick if you want to use it in sushi."

He seemed to know what it was like, or at least the facts. Maybe he'd felt the restaurant move if he'd been there? Or someone described the view to him? "It's the kind of place you go to celebrate something. Or take a date to impress. The food is mostly American fare, but top notch."

"Salmon is also good smoked." He must have eaten it before. He'd certainly like to eat it again. Heiji, you are seriously making him hungry.

For a moment, Heiji didn't say anything. He just sort of... grinned at Light.

"Where you'd 'take a date', huh? I didn't know you were so smooth. Had ya figured all wrong."

Dohohoho. Light, you dog, you.

"I don't know what impression you just got from what I said but I'm fairly sure it's wrong." He doesn't even know what Heiji was thinking but it didn't take much of a guess, judging by his tone of voice.

"I meant more that anyone could take a date there to impress because of the view. It's also expensive." Did he know these things because he'd been there or had someone told him about it? He wouldn't know what the view looked like so he must have heard about it from someone.

He was keeping an eye on you, buddy.

"Sure, sure. Maybe it'd be a good place to go for Christmas." ~~YOU KNOW. WITH YOUR SPECIAL HONEY~~

"Think I'd like to go at least once. I'm curious about what kinda machinery they use to rotate a whole restaurant like that." Of course, there was no way it could be as amazing and awesome as Osaka, but still.

The only special things in his life were his books and his sister. If he remembered he had one, that is.

"Well, provided we escape, after you give me an auditory tour of Osaka, I'll take you to the Space Needle with whatever assumed parents and siblings that I have." That seemed a fair enough trade.

"Deal," said Heiji easily enough. Heck, it was what he'd planned to do anyway.

"Then ya can find out who you take after. I'm kind of curious about my parents, too. I been thinking it'd be cute to have a little brother or somethin'. You know, someone to look out for."

"Perhaps you have a slew of siblings waiting for you wherever you are from, Heiji." Surely he had a large family waiting for him in Japan? At the very least, he must have parents.

"What, you ain't going to say something about how I have to be an only child?" Because he would have totally walked into that one.

He crossed his arms and looked upward, thinking. "Be nice to find out if it's true, but I'd feel really bad if I left some poor kid all alone."

"I don't know. Perhaps your parents wanted another child to balance out all your faults and tendencies."

The tone was bone dry.

And somehow, Heiji's response to this statement was exactly the same in English and Japanese: "That's cold."

"...Well, nobody's perfect, I guess."

He chuckled. Really, Heiji, you made this so easy for him.

"Actually, if you're already working for the police at whatever age you are, I'm sure your parents are quite pleased."

Light couldn't see it, but Heiji was just giving him this LOOK. But he never could stay upset for long.

"Yeah, well. I'm sure your parents are real proud of you, too -- wherever they are."

"Somewhere safe, I hope." At least, that's what he's going to go by.

"So long as they don't offer family specials on kidnappings, anyway," said Heiji, wo actually would not put it past Zero to snatch relatives and then wipe their memories.

"'Kidnap two, get the third family member free!'"

"I wouldn't want to have a family member here with me. For starters, if we don't have all our memories, how would we know we were related?" That would turn into a nightmarish scenario.
