Every third day, there would normally be an Ambidex Round going on, but today, it's different. Calhoun still screeches for everyone to wake up, that will never change, but instead of trying to rush people into a Chromatic Door, he instead splits everyone up into groups.

Child Test Subject (Kariya) with Fancy Test Subject (Zelos)! That's Team One.

Team Two will have the Nice Test Subject (Hershel), Hat-wearing Test Subject (Akiko), and Ditzy Test Subject (Aoi)!

Team Three is the Giant Test Subject (Jake), Also Nice Test Subject (Colette), and the Blind Test Subject (Light)!

Finally, the rest will be Team Four, with Tiny Test Subject (Clive), Mean Test Subject (Heiji), and Will-Gladly-Drug-Again Test Subject (Ema).

Oh, why is Team One having only two people instead of three? Where is the French Test Subject (Enjorlas)? Well, he got sick too, there must be something going around, so he was also quarantined for this moment, but don't worry, Team One! Calhoun has something up his sleeves for you, so you're not missing out.

But anyway, each team needs to go into an AB Room and stay in there. This is going to be a fun game, and anyone who refuses? Well, then he can gladly make those bracelets go off, and then you can have a nice long death. It's up to you, really, but let's make this easy and have fun inside the rooms, okay?

[And it is not at all because he's afraid of what he might find out if he gets a memory.]

Really? [He sounded surprised, then thoughtful.] Well, I guess it really is an easy decision in a way, BP isn't a gamble, it's very straight forward.

Memories are tempting, though...

And what if it's a memory that you'd rather forget?

[Calhoun had never made any guarantee that they'd be happy memories; the memories that both Jake and Hershel received had been pretty mundane, but there was nothing stopping Zero from giving them a traumatic experience from their childhood or something. Hell, as far as Zelos knew, there was no way the memories were even real anyway. If Zero could pick and choose what he was giving them, who's to say that what they were given wasn't fake?]

I guess you have a point... the memory I got back was a little melancholy, and maybe I would be happier without it, but I'm glad I got it back. I guess um, I want to know who I am, even if it might be unpleasant at times.

[He almost winced at his own words, wow he sounded like an idiot. He offers a sheepish smile.] I think BP is probably the safest bet though. We're getting close to being able to exchange it for medical supplies too, you never know when you'll need that. [Since his arm was still all fucked up from puzzle stabs THANKS JAKE]

[That, unfortunately, wasn't an opinion that Zelos shared. He didn't know a lot about himself, but he had a feeling that his memories held a lot of things that he was better off not knowing. Even if he was stuck in this hellhole, not knowing who he was gave him some sort of relief. Not that he'll say any of this to Hershel, of course.]

Yeah, and it looks like Zero's starting to ramp up the puzzles too. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if he pulled out a death laser or something. [Or, much more likely, a deadly toxin with an incubation period of a couple days. Zero's goal was to turn them against each other, after all. So far, he'd only been offering rewards with minimal gain, but Zelos had a feeling that wasn't going to last very long.]

[Hershel sighs.] Don't give him ideas, I can only imagine the gleam in his eyes if he heard that.

Who were you playing against, Mr. Wilder? [Someone's good at paying attention. He was too preoccupied with his own team and coming over to see why Zelos looked so pleased ok, sue him...]

[OH MAN and here it comes did Hershel think that Zelos' smirk couldn't get any wider because it definitely could.]

[Hershel stares for a beat, trying not to smile but ok yeah he's totally smiling.]

Please tell me you stole stars from Calhoun. [He was a little concerned about Calhoun being pissy at Zelos for that BUT come on it'd be so so sweet.]
