A M B I D E X  V O T I N G Everyone (besides one newbie) should know how things work by now: you leave your respective puzzle rooms, head downstairs to the first floor, swipe your Ambidex Room cards, and enter your elevator. Now, this is where it gets different, because here's your prizes for this round! For anyone who chooses Betray, and gets betrayed in return, well you get a nice can of food! What kind inside? That's a surprise! Oh, and 15 coins for each person. As for anyone who chooses Betray and their opponent chooses Ally, well, the reward is always much bigger! Calhoun toss in three cans of food, for those poor saps who don't have access to the cafeteria yet, and along with 50 whole coins, each for a PAIR! Amazing! That just might be enough to put some of you in a nice comfy spot where you can start buying food or amazing goodies in Calhoun's Corner: Sundries and Collectibles for the Discerning Test Subject. Isn't that just great? For anyone who chooses Ally, well, if your opponent chooses Ally as well, then you'll just get the usual BP increase. How boring, but at least you can be all lovely-dovely with each other. If you're the poor sap that chose Ally and got stabbed in the back, well, sorry, you only lose BP, but you might get a little something. He'll find you later about that. But anyway, happy voting! This time Heiji simply grabbed Clive and hauled him up onto one shoulder like a literal sack of potatoes. "Hey there, you okay? You feeling faint?"

Maybe he shouldn't have let Snake carry Clive out of the AB room...

Nuh uh, there was no way Heiji was just going to let Snake crawl off in a hole somewhere and maybe turn out to be another Akiko. He followed Snake at once, careful to brace Clive so that he wouldn't fall off.

"Hey, hey! Hold it together! You can lie down in the lounge again, that way I can keep an eye on both of ya."

*He can't quite make it to the couch before his strength gives. He curls on the floor on his left side so his entire body acts as a cushion for his right arm. The floor, usually chilly, feels pleasantly cool* Clive needs the couch more.

"Savin' that comfy floor for yourself, huh?" Just a little joke in a less than optimal situation! Heiji propped Clive up on the couch and folded his hands over his chest, so it looked like he was just taking a nap. "Wonder how long he's gonna be out like that."

That done, he crouched down near where Snake was lying. Jeez, he really didn't look so good. "You want some water? My bottle's still mostly full."

Maybe in a little bit. *He was afraid to move now while pain spiked in his hand. Resting might finally make it better and it looked like he wouldn't have a choice.* I'd be more concerned about Clive since we can't figure out his condition.

"He ain't got a fever, so it's not the same thing took down Kotetsu-han and that Kariya kid," said Heiji. "Seems a lot like a coma, but what would've caused it? He was lookin' a little green around the gills, but I figured that was just from not getting much to eat."

Alas, if only he were a brilliant black-market surgeon.

*Sadly Black Jack wasn't a prisoner with them.* That's true. If he's just completely limp and passed out, it might be a condition that could affect of us.

"You'd think that'd spoil Zero's fun, though -- havin' all his test subjects lie around convalescing." Then again, you never knew... Zero might be one of those creepers that liked watching people while they slept.

Unless he likes us dying in slow degrees. *Morbid thoughts. And continuing the theme...* So your memory you told me was being thrown into the middle of a murder investigation with a group of people you seemed to know? You're definitely with the police. Or a detective.

Heiji smiled a little. "Well, murder happens all the time -- but you're right, normal people don't ride around in patrol cars. I don't know who I am, exactly, but at least I ain't freakin' out down here. So I guess I lucked out in that sense. Sure wish I could remember what happened with the rest of that case, though..."

I'll guess that you solved it. You seem determined enough that it's what you'd do. Maybe you'll someday get the other half of that memory and find out who all those people are.

"Can't assume that, though," said Heiji, closing one eye and cracking the other one open to look at Snake. He looked pretty amused.

"Even the best detectives have unsolved cases."

Are you implying that you have unsolved cases or that you're a best detective? *It was an amusing thought*

Heiji's smile turned a little wistful. "I'm sayin' that no matter how good you are, everyone makes mistakes. And everyone has something that they regret."

I suppose there's logic to that. I'm certainly regretting several choices I've made recently but, there's nothing for me to do but suffer the consequences.
