Another round, maybe this one will end better? Less blood and gore even? No? Well, here are the conditions regardless.:

For anyone who chooses Ally, well, if your opponent chooses Ally as well, then 2BP for each of you and blah blah blah, predictable. Bore him to tears why don't you.

For anyone who chooses Betray, and gets a Betray in return, everyone's BP stays the same and one of you gets fifty coins! That'd be fun, right? A cheeky little gamble. The rest get a pat on the back and that warm feeling of a vote well voted.

Last but certainly not least: for anyone who chooses Betray and their opponent chooses Ally, same deal as last time, two whole memories! Eh, eh? Come on, that's a pretty good deal, right? Take the offer! And the ally person well, they get the usual.

Stress probably did Clive's height in, thanks for the help there, Zero. "When we get out your family will probably be surprised to see how much taller you are now." That's a little bittersweet, missing two months of their lives wasn't the best.

"Very impressive, Heiji, think of all the high shelves you'll be able to reach. You can be the designated lightbulb replacer." A little dry, hey being a little bit of a shitlord is a good thing, probably.

"I bet that's not all they're gonna be surprised by," said Heiji. Ha. Ha ha ha. Yeah... surprises...

"Don't be like that, Hershel," he said with a wink. "I might be at the top now, but I won't forget about all the people out there less fortunate. Like if you ever need someone to get a jar off a shelf for ya, I'll be there to help ya out."

"You do have a few new things to tell them about." Hershel mused. Scars, boyfriends, menacing masked enemies. Normal day for Heiji.

"I'm glad to see your height based accomplishments haven't made you forget us poor sods down here." He laughed quietly, shaking his head. "You realize this is bad for you in a way, your clothes aren't going to fit as well if you keep going like this."

"I ain't the only one, either," said Heiji, giving Hershel a look. "You know, you're gonna have to explain to your folks everything that went on here. If they're anything like you, they'll be fussin' at you for months. Years, even." Expect to never be let out of the house again, Hershel.

Hmm, that was a good point. "Some of my clothes are better than others when it comes to fitting," said Heiji thoughtfully. "But I don't think I got much more growing in me, anyway. Anyway, if Calhoun's got a problem with it, maybe he should fork over some more clothes."

Who did you think he was, Hershel? Jake?

Have a face. "Ma's going to go mental, I remember enough to know that for certain." If you think he's a motherhen... "Then again, when I tell her about you she'll probably send more care packages than you'll know what to do with, fair warning to you there." At least you're a continent away.

Maybe he could start fitting into Jake's merc clothes, what a treasure. "True- how tall do you think you'll end up? Maybe you'll beat Jake." That would be amazing, okay. He's all for that.

"If she ain't already. I bet she's already saving up stuff to pile on you when ya get back." Mother hens... "Sending stuff that far's pretty expensive, though! Even if ya send it by sea. Of course, it might be better than if she tried to give a bunch of stuff to me when I visited, 'cause then I'd have to carry it around. It's best to travel light, yeah?"

Look, Heiji didn't want to wear Jake's merc clothes, okay? They probably smelled like beef jerky and Alfendi's blood. "No way. Besides, Jake is like too tall. It's weird." And it probably made him look even older. Still, they should leave Jake at least one thing he could be indisputably best at. Besides hoarding money and putting people on elevators.

"I told Sasuke he needs to eat more if he wants to grow, but he still eats like a bird!"

"She'll find a way, if you think I'm fussy just wait until you meet her." Hershel was amused, you can't escape, man. This is life right now. "What do you think you'll do when you get out? We've probably missed a lot of school at this point." What a nerd, worrying about missed homework. Stuff him in a locker.

Alfendi's blood probably smells like beef jerky so double beef jerky smell for you there. "He is a bit monstrously tall." He admitted, fucking elevator time out nonsense. "I don't think I've seen him eat, that's- well, that's worrying, actually..." He frowned, cluck cluck instincts flaring. "I'm sure he eats enough though, Sasuke's a sensible person."

"When I get back? Probably go back home, deal with police questions, try and figure out how to graduate with all the time I been missing. I bet reporter's'll be swarming the place, trying to get the story. I wanna track down Akiko's folks, too, but once things die down, I'm gonna visit all of you guys."

He laughed. "Don't worry too much about Sasuke. Even since the Simon thing, I told him I'd be checkin' in on him to make sure he wasn't hiding away from the cafeteria. So he at least shows up."

"Oh, I suppose toy have a point about that." Reporters, he hadn't considered that as much. "Do you think this has actually become a big story? Or that they'll realize we're all connected by now?"

"How do you think he's doing regarding the Simon nonsense now? It really did hit him pretty hard." He made another whistle, fweeee. That's a pretty good one actually. "He really seems to blame himself for things, doesn't he?"

"Well, you and Alfendi and maybe Clive, I guess you guys'd have the strongest chance of bein' connected," said Heiji, thinking it over. "Two relatives and a journalist acquaintance of theirs. Of course, if we were all taken from the same place -- or at least the first nine of us -- we woulda caused a pretty big stir. I don't know about the others, though. People disappear all the time, and some of 'em get written off as runaways." Of course, Hershel was a fine upstanding teenager, there was no way he'd ever run off to explore booby-trapped ruins or anything like that. Certainly not.

"Yeah. Which is ridiculous. Everyone makes mistakes, and I don't think anyone saw the Simon thing coming."

"That's true, and to top it off Clive seems to be a well respected journalist in London." Hershel mused, tapping his chin. "I have no idea what Alfendi does but he's clearly very intelligent, I wouldn't be surprised if he made a name for himself too. They would probably get a decent amount of attention from the press." Unlike Hershel who yes, never went on a single adventure thank you very much. "You and Ema though, individually your kidnappings may make quite the stir. You do both have strong ties to the police in your area."

And he nodded to that emphatically. "Honestly even in the grey room it took him blatantly stating his connection to Calhoun for us to really get a clue. He played it all so well... I hope Sasuke will come to realize that. I suppose even more than that I hope he won't give up on trusting people here."

Ah, yes. Hershel, who never went on any adventures or did anything unexpected...

Heiji sighed. "I dunno if he will, but here's hoping. You know how some people are, they're like a hundred times harder on themselves than on anyone else. Even if ya point out that everyone else did the exact same thing."

He nodded. "It's a little frightening, isn't it? That people can be that good at acting." He tossed his stupid whistle to the side, probably too grim a conversation for dumb grass whistles. "I wonder who he really was and what Zero and Calhoun promised him. Safety, maybe? His memories? I doubt he was foolish enough to believe them saying they'd release him."

And he shook his head. "I wonder if he really would have killed Kuzuryuu in that grey room if had been a real gun. I suppose that doesn't really matter now."

"Maybe safety. Knowing where the traps were, for instance, or bein' guaranteed that any Calhoun Hours wouldn't screw him over too bad. The way you were describin' him... maybe part of it was getting to watch us struggle while he was in the know." Simon, you jerk.

At the mention of Kuzuryuu, Heiji frowned. "You know what? When I got a chance to look over that footage of what happened in the other rooms, I saw how Kuzuryuu answered those questions in that first grey room."

"I suppose so..." Grim, thanks Simon. "I want to believe he had better reasons than that but- well, he never really seemed to give us any reason to think so."

Hershel blinked, suddenly pretty curious. "Really? What did he say?" He asked before frowning. "You know when we first met he used to argue with me all the time about keeping a weapon, that if someone tried to kill you you had to kill them. I understand what he was trying to get at, even if I disagreed, but I always wondered why he had such a bleak outlook on people."

"...Yeah, that sounds like him, all right. I won't bore ya with details, but his answer made it clear that he wasn't just thinkin' about banning tall people or not based on what he thought was fair to him, or fair to that hypothetical person. He took the scenario into account. The question involved a ruler who had to make that decision for his people, right? He was concerned about his responsibility to his subjects. As a ruler, he felt that he had to take their feelings into account."

Heiji smiled a little. "So if that guy really was a gangster or somethin', I bet he'd have been good to his subordinates."

Hershel just listened, feeling a sharp pang at the fact Kuzuryuu was gone. "He was a good person, I believe that without a doubt. I don't know about all this gang business... he was so young. I wonder, if it's true, how he got involved in all that."

He sighed, rubbing his arm. "I really want to believe they're all still alive, as hopeless at it seems sometimes. Maybe we'll find him one day."

"Yeah... Wirt, too." Of course, who knew what had happened to them at this point...? But if anyone could stay alive, it was Kuzuryuu, right?

Heiji shook his head. "Sorry, didn't mean to make you depressed. I just wanted to say it 'cause everyone kept sayin' how he was just like Jake. But that's not true at all. He's got a foul mouth, but Kuzuryuu really thinks about other people."

Hershel offered a smile, raising his hand. "No, it's important to keep talking about them, whether it be depressing or not. They don't deserve to be brushed under the rug." He leaned back a bit. "And I'm glad to hear that about him. You know, Calhoun, in that truth or dare grey room, he told him he hadn't had any friends before. I really can't imagine why, once you got to know him-"

He shook his head. "I'm glad these rooms will be over soon, hopefully Calhoun will have something a little calmer up his sleeve next."

"Yeah? What a jerk." Seriously, that was like a playground insult or something. "Besides, Kuzuryuu had that girl he was always with, right? She had to be his friend. Or maybe his girlfriend."

Heiji laughed. Right, Calhoun doing something nice and calm. "Well, I ain't holding my breath. But it'd be nice. I kinda prefer not bein' stabbed. Just a personal preference, y'know."

"I think that's what he was worried about, that he wasn't her friend." Hershel mused. "I'd like to think that's because they were something more and Calhoun was twisting words around. Maybe they were family."

Yeah, that is hoping for a lot. Hershel looked vaguely amused despite himself. "I'd be very happy if no one was stabbed for a long while, honestly. I was rather hoping we were mostly done with that."

Hmm. "Well, it can be kinda tough to make friends if you're spoutin' off all the time," said Heiji. "I mean, you'd probably scare a bunch of people off before they got a chance to know ya. But they sounded pretty close, so maybe you're right."

Heiji frowned a little and glanced down at his leg. "Once you get done with the next room, I guess... I guess I can tell ya about a couple things that've been bothering me about it."

"I suppose so, it certainly made Clive irritated as far as I can tell." Then again Clive did enjoy holding grudges, so who knew. Probably a mixture of both.

And Hershel nodded, growing solemn. "This room coming up seems to have bothered a lot of people. Whenever anyone talks about it they seem troubled, even Jake to some extent."

"Yeah?" That was interesting. "Even Jake? He say somethin' to you?"

Of course, probably anyone would be surprised at a reveal like that...

"Not much, mostly he just said it was a tough room. I don't think he wanted to get into it too much, given there's not much he could say to me without getting in trouble. Clive spoke a little more about it, I'm sure he told you much more, of course."

Hershel shrugged. "I don't think whatever happened shook Jake at least, he wasn't sulking or irritated like he tends to be after a bad room."
