A M B I D E X  V O T I N G Once everyone exits their respective rooms, Zero's voice will be heard over the speakers: "Proceed into the Ambidex Rooms and cast your vote. You will be given 45 minutes to decide." And with that, the elevator doors open and the PA system turns itself off. It seems as if there are no rewards or any of that nonsense this time around... Hunh? Oh, Heiji, there you are. I fear what kind of mess I'm making just by walking around but it can't be helped. *But he'll happily follow Heiji to the garden just to wash off the mud for starters.*

"Don't worry about it," said Heiji. "We'll leave it for Zero to clean up." He tugged at Snake's hand, leading him over to the pond.

"Let's just wash off some of the mud. Then we can take a real shower, right?"

With all that implied...

*Snake thought more about how warm the shower would be. Although being with Heiji would certainly make things a thousand times better.* I think it may be the best shower I will ever have. *But first, he dunked his head under the water and finger combed the mud out of his hair.*

"Well... I sure hope so."

Heiji did his best to help Snake clean off, brushing mud off of Snake's back and shoulders. So what if he got a little dirty himself? They'd be cleaning off in a little bit.

"You know what? You look pretty cute when you're wet."

*There were so many answers to that statement and Snake restrained himself heroically. Instead, he said.* Even with an eye going purple? You're too kind.

I'm just fortunate Jake was there. *Because if he had to go alone? Snake couldn't guarantee he'd be here now.*

"Even with an eye goin' purple." Heiji leaned over and gave Snake a quick kiss high on the cheek, near his eye but not close enough to jar the bruise. The affection in his voice and actions was quite clear.

"Yeah, I figured between the two of you, you'd be okay. But I gotta thank him. Did he help ya past that water?"

Jake didn't trust his depth perception so he swam and dragged me along. Also for the walls we climbed, he carried me over. *The only part where Snake proved useful was the mud and searching for the key.*

*Snake clenched his jaw. He accepted the fact that there were actions that were clearly beyond his ability because of his handicaps. However, he did not accept being a load to someone else.*

Heiji touched the corner of Snake's jaw with the tips of his fingers. He figured this was Snake's pride telling him he should have been able to get through the obstacle course on his own.

"Hey, don't let it get to you too much. When that blackout happened, you were helpin' everyone else, right? So let other people help you, too... just every now and then."

*Snake breathed in through his nose and out the same way. Loudly.*

You do bring up a good point. *Pride could get one very far but it had to be balanced by practicality. However, he couldn't really view the situation in practical terms at the moment.*

Speaking of helping, do you mind helping me with a bit more of this mud?

"Of course!" Heiji began brushing more mud off of Snake, systematically attacking the dirt on his pant legs and then working his way up his thighs.

"I'm glad ya didn't get hurt, though. That room could've really gotten someone injured."

I suppose attempting to jump on a platform would have been more dangerous than swimming. *Avoiding broken limbs was ultimately a better plan than avoiding getting chilly.*

"Yeah, 'specially with two of you at once." He slapped lightly at Snake's butt, loosening more of the mud from the back of his slacks.

"Think you're about ready?"

*Snake gave him a startled look at that hand on his backside but then he grinned.* I can certainly tell you are. We'll just have to let my clothes dry somewhere and get clean in the shower.
