T H E  W A R E H O U S E 【 day 41 】 Hello newcomers, welcome to the 【 Warehouse 】. Once you escape your elevator, you will find yourself here. It's strangely empty for a warehouse. Aside from the elevators you've come out of, there's nothing else here. In fact, the longer you look around, the stranger everything looks. Every window has been bolted shut, with no way of removing the steel coverings. The only source of illumination comes from the florescent lights above. Along the walls are numerous amounts of surveillance cameras, watching every bit of movement and listening to the sounds of everyone and everything. Every door is locked up tight, with no clear way of opening them, and there's one giant door with a 9 painted on it. It's a rather strange place, and there seems to be a lot of people here, so go introduce yourselves? For the "old-timers" and "newly-become-old-timers", come meet your new fellow test subjects. You haven't had more than one person arrive in a long while, so what a surprise! This also means that there are two elevators that you can jump into and have a nice, long, cold bath in! How generous of Calhoun.

[ You Found It! ]

[ You've solved the puzzle and you've escaped the elevator, but now you only find yourself here in this warehouse. Perhaps you're the first to get out, perhaps you've taken your sweet old time. Either way, you're in an unfamiliar area surrounded by unfamiliar faces. Better start introducing yourself. ]

[So, the first thing Alfendi does once he emerges from his elevator is wring out his ponytail onto the floor and shake the water from his shoes. He's rather tall and slim, so with the way all this water is weighing down his lab coat and his turtleneck, he looks like a stick insect wearing clothes that are way too big for his body - but other than his doofy outfit, his unreasonably messy hair and his stupid height, the thing that stands out most about this newcomer is the attitude he seems to have for this whole ordeal.

Alfendi isn't panicking - he doesn't even look worried - he just looks mildly irritated as he smacks the side of his forehead a little to shake away some of the water that lodged itself in his ear. He's certainly not happy with the situation he's found himself in, but he seems far from concerned as he surveys the first floor of the warehouse from where he's standing. Maybe he's just really good at keeping his cool? That'd be better than him treating this like some sort of annoying, time-consuming inconvenience rather than, you know, a life-threatening kidnapping. With, like, exploding test subjects or whatever.

But once he empties a small swimming pool from the front pocket of his coat, he'll start idly pacing around to find other test subjects in order to see how he's supposed to handle things around here. He'll wander pretty far, even making his way up to the Garden if you'd prefer to find him there - it's probably kind of a dumb idea for him to just walk around a strange environment after being kidnapped by a spooky mouse in a spooky mask, but whatever, it's fine. He's fiiine.

Either way. Yeah. He'll be somewhere. SO. Feel free to stop him and talk to him!!!!!!]

Heiji watched as Alfendi climbed out of the elevator. He'd been around long enough to know what to expect at this point, but...

"So you're the new guy, huh? One of 'em, anyway. If you wanna dry off, the garden's got some fake sun lamps."

[maybe hershel isn't the only one who likes redheads?? calhoun sure has specific tastes when it comes to test subjects huh....................]

I beg your pardon? [Alfendi seems to be taken aback when somebody actually approaches him, but. hey, he'd pretty much expected that if anyone else were around, they'd want to check in on him. he's a new face, after all. so with a quick shake of his head and an apologetic shrug of his shoulders, he tries to not be an antisocial garbage douchebag.]

Ah - thank you. [rather than head towards where he thinks the garden may be, however, alfendi picks up on that "new guy" comment and focuses on that.] Yes - the new guy. I suppose I am. I take it you've been in this situation for some time?

[New people, that's always depressing. This one was kind of weird though, or at least way calmer than Hershel was used to seeing. In fact Hershel was probably just walking down one of the halls to check out the ruckus and had to do a doubletake because here's some douchebag walking around like shit's normal? Weird??

When he does recover from that weird bullshit he stop, calling out.] Oh, um, you must be new?

[Wow, shocking deduction, he almost sighs.] Sorry, just- welcome. I guess. Not exactly the sort of place you want to be welcoming people to.

[Alfendi didn't respond to Hershel immediately, apparently focused on something else and delegating social interaction to somewhere on the lower end of his list of priorities. He's thinking about something, staring at the general structure of the warehouse as if he's trying to figure something out, but he soon turns away from his thoughts and decides to act like a human being for once in his fucking life]

Yes, I must be. [what an answer. Alfendi offers his hand out to Hershel.] Thank you. It was very courteous of you to welcome me, regardless of our circumstances.

[When Alfendi makes his way up to the garden, Clive will already be in there as well, just sitting kind of miserably underneath a tree, knees propped up and resting his chin on top of them as he fixed his gaze on a patch of grass in front of him. It's been a while since they lost people, especially this many. Simon, Zelos, and Enjolras... Even though he couldn't stand Zelos and thinks that Simon totally deserved whatever happened to him, it still meant that more innocent people were going to have to be dragged into this mess as well. It's a pretty shitty feeling all around.

But when he hears feet crunching against the grass nearby, Clive looks up and is rather surprised to see that one of the new people had ventured up here already. Nevertheless, like he just flipped a light switch in his brain, his face immediately brightens up as he straightens up to greet the newcomer.]

Oh! Hello there. Enjoying your stroll around this fine establishment? [There's some subtle sarcasm at the end there.]

[Alfendi doesn't seem to notice Clive's mood - or even his presence, really, until he speaks up and addresses him. He's slightly surprised to hear an unfamiliar voice call out to him, but besides a slight raise of his eyebrows and a polite dip of his head in acknowledgement, he doesn't really react at all. Kinda weird, actually.]

As far as fine establishments go, I'm sure I've strolled around better. [Not that he remembers.] I could murder a coffee, but I imagine that's out of the question.

[He offers his hand to Clive, stifling a yawn behind his other arm.]

But it's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Alfendi Layton - though just Alfendi will suffice. I suspect you're in the same position as me, aren't you? Another test subject.

*Snake is taking a bit of walk in the garden, trying to get himself accustomed to the most open room around. He hears someone walking around but due to the ground muffling footsteps, he can't tell who it is.* Hello?

[Oh, another unfamiliar person. Alfendi's getting slightly tired of dealing with people; he's only spoken to a handful of fellow test subjects so far, but he's kind of a recluse, so his energy has been draining quite quickly all day. Still, he values friendliness pretty highly, so he's pretty chipper if not somewhat quiet when he greets Snake.]

Hello. Are you alright? You seem rather lost.

[People leaving seems to mean that others will soon arrive, and sure enough they've got a guy climbing out of the elevator after a time. Better check in on him...]

Oh - hello. [Alfendi smoothes his hair back and unleashes another small torrential downpour on the warehouse floor again. He offers his hand - his slightly dryer hand - to Sasuke, fixing his posture so he can appear somewhat more approachable despite the whole. you know. drowning in icewater thing.]

Yes. I'd say so, all things considered. Who might you be? Another test subject, I'd wager?

Still pretty worked up from recent events, Kuzuryuu was wandering about the facility, hands shoved into his pockets as he walked. Clearly he was not paying very much attention, having other things on his mind. So he didn't notice that Alfendi was also walking down the hallway until he ran into him, jostling his already injured nose in the process.

"Ah, shit," Kuzuryuu hissed, quickly taking a step back from Alfendi, clasping his nose and ready to yell at whoever he'd run into. But when he looked up he didn't recognize him.

"Oh, you're new, huh?"

[oh, look! it's a toddler modelling the latest autumn range in children's fashion. alfendi blinks in surprise when he stumbles into a dude that's like 4 feet shorter than he is, and he's already raising his hands in surrender as an attempt to diffuse the obviously rising indignation in this kid.

but it turns out that's unnecessary! alfendi lowers his arms and tucks his hands into his pockets, because it turns out he won't be yelled at kuzuryuu today. that's good. save your voice for when he's hurling abuse at you from an electric chair some time in the future.]

I'm Alfendi Layton, but feel free to call me Al if that's easier for you. Is your nose alright?

[bumping into him on her way out of the cafeteria--literally, because paying attention to things in front of you is a job for other people.]

[alfendi is apparently just as away with the fairies as Ema, because he's not even aware of her presence until the headlong collision pulls him out of his thoughts. after staggering backwards and ducking his head in an apology, he extends his arm out to her to help her regain her balance.]

Pardon me. That was my fault. I wasn't watching where I was going. [sheepishly just scratches his cheek as awkwardly and uncomfortably as possible]

I believe we haven't met. I'm, ah - new, you see.

[ One puzzle later, Akane escapes from the elevator looking to all the world like some sort of soggy eggplant. The water that had been gushing into the room appears to have risen above her waist, and her long hair is visibly damp. When she drops to the floor, she takes the hem of her dress in both hands and wrings it out onto the floor, watching distantly as the resulting water pools around her tall boots.

Once she is a little dryer, she takes the time to gaze around the large room: there appear to be other elevators similar to the one she just exited lining the wall behind her, but the rest of the area is rather empty. It looks like a warehouse of some sort, and the cold, metallic feel of it causes a few wayward shivers to scurry down her spine. The chill combined with her wet clothes cause Akane to wrap her arms around herself once more as she proceeds cautiously into unfamiliar territory. ]

[Akane doesn't have to go far before running into a slightly older woman in slacks and a lab coat that seems as though it's seen better days.]

If it makes you feel any better, that's the majority of the drowning done with right there.

[ It's comforting to meet a human face, albeit an unfamiliar one. Out of the corner of her eye, Akane catches sight of an overlarge bracelet adorning the other woman's wrist... another unwilling participant in Zero's game? ]

Well, that's a relief. To tell the truth, I'm not a very good swimmer. [ She smiles placidly. ] Um, about your bracelet... were you abducted, too?

Heiji was still waiting in the area around the elevators, figuring that Alfendi wasn't going to be the last one to emerge -- not this time, anyway. He was dressed in ordinary street clothes today, with a white baseball cap pulled the wrong way around.

"Hey there, missy! Glad to see ya made it out!" He stuck out his hand for a shake and smiled. "I'm Heiji."

[ She isn't entirely sure what she was expecting to find when she emerged from the elevator, but a warm reception somehow didn't rank among her top five possibilities. Still, Akane is pretty relieved to find others like herself here, even if it isn't under the most favorable of circumstances. She beams gratefully at Heiji. ]

It's nice to meet you! My name is Akane Kurashrek-- I mean, Kurashiki. [ A small giggle. ] I guess you must be here for the Nonary Game, too, right?

[ While Jake can't exactly say that he's happy about people arriving and having fun in this "game", he will say that he does enjoy free bathes. Heck yeah, freezing cold water that people almost drowned in, that sounds great. ]

You might want to stay in there a bit longer. Free bathes around here don't come by very often.

[And there's the second person. Makes sense, they've lost two people, not counting Mr. MIA mole. Dressed entirely in dark clothes, Sasuke will approach her with footsteps that may well be near silent.]

[ The sudden voice nearly shocks Akane out of her skin. ]

Oh! Well, I'm doing alright, all things considered. Just a little wet. [ She offers a smile as evidence. ] My name is Akane, by the way.
